Do I need wheel spacers? (Pics inside)

Wish the rears stuck out a little more but don't want to start tearing my tires up if I get too wide and I def. don't want to roll my fender well.

What do you guys think. Wheels are 18x9 with 285/35 Nitto 555's

Not needed, looks well balanced as is. Spacers IMO is just another
point of failure and extra weight.

Sweet! Thanks for the feedback.... Didn't want to do spacers but sometimes when I look at the rear wheels I feel like they would look better being a little further out but then again I am really anal.

I think it looks ok, but would look better with a 1/4" spacer IMO....

Yeah I think it would too. Wouldn't I need longer studs when doing 1/4 spacers? Also do you think the tires would rub the fenders when going over uneven surfaces?

Do you have any shots straight on from the rear of the car?

It looks like your axle is shifted to the right a little. Mine is the same way and I havn't seen many other cars with the same problem.

Its maybe 1/2-1" in most cases.

I don't think thats the case at all. Just might have seemed that way from the difference in angles from the first two pics.

Looks good to me. I think Mustangs with stock wheels definitely need spacers though. Here's before and after on my stock Bullitt wheels. I got a good deal on some 1.5 inch spacers so I jumped on it.

Now tell me that it doesn't look 100 times better! They should sit like this from the factory!

68stang351 that does looks 100 times better.

I would do 1/4 in. spacers on mine but with the rear of the car as low as it is i'm afraid it will start cutting my tire.

I think it looks nice too man! A BIT wider might look nicer but I don't know if it would be worth it or not.

Stock Mustangs could benefit from the use of spacers..

however spacers and their potential failures scare the hell out of me. I would never put them on my car even though I think my rear wheels do need to come out 1"

My 1/4" spacers are from MM & they are light as hell. I didnt need new studs either. I dont see how a 1/4" thin peice of metal is gonna cause some type of failure??? There is plenty of thread left & like I said the are super light. Its the cheap 1" spacers from pep boys with internal studs that might fail, but the eibach 1" spacers work fine as well. i know plenty of people that run them with zero problems. They dont weigh more than a few pounds & use strong studs.

Well it has to do with leverage really. The spacer is not fixed to the hub. Even though it's centered on the hub or lugs, it can still shift slightly. So by allowing the wheel to move puts stress on the lugs where the protrude from the hub. The further away from the hub the wheel is (by means of bigger spacer) the more stress on the base of the lug due to increased leverage with the longer moment arm. Typically people upgrade the studs not for lenght...but for stenght by using hardened studs

I run 1/4" from MM and that is the MAX you should run on stock studs per MM.
