Does a Superchips tune remain adaptive?

I just programmed my car with the 1725 microtuner and I think it's causing detonation. I think my car has been lean ever since I put the plenum and throttle body on because I got the "marbles in a tin can" sound going up hills in 5th gear. So I started using 89 octane and it seemed to cure that. So now I've installed the 1725 and although I feel more power, it seems to run rougher and makes a "clacking" sound above ~2500 rpm. I'm guessing that it's pinging. And yes, I'm using premium gas (91 octane in CA) since I've installed the tuner.

My question is, will the ECU start to adapt with a few more driving cycles? If not, I may have to spend another $170 for a Pro-M Remote Optimizer to richen it up. I know a dyno tune would have been ideal, but there are none in my area.

sounds like you either have too much timing or not enought fuel, one of the two. If it is fuel the EEC might adapt but if its timing your just wearing your motor out. What do you have done to your car??

The mods are in my sig...I think it is definitely running lean. From what I know, Superchips doesn't add that much timing. I was just wondering if the computer will adapt and add more fuel. And also, will it still be able to adapt to ambient temperature and altitude changes now that it has been programmed with the Superchips programmer. Does anyone know??

I take it nobody has a clue what changes these make to our ECUs????
