I like how earlier that day I state how I don't race anyone, and then get a reckless ticket later that afternoon.. (not for racing)

Irony?????

Is that tranny from an '83 RX-7? I've never seen a T-5 with reverse in the upper left position.

Well heres what I did in my 02. The stock piece was just some plastic that somehow was broken by the previous owner or something

Went to home depot and got some 90 degree steel stock and some flat stock (its usually near the nuts and bolts)

I measured the width of the opening inside the dash. Should note that you need to measure to the inside lip on each side so that it will slide into the little reliefs on the console/dash. Also a good idea to take those measurements at about where the radio will be sitting to ensure a good fit.

The support bar just goes straight back, if theres nothing for it to rest on u can add something in there but there was a metal brace inside the dash that mine rested on.

I took the double din trim piece that my new radio came with, centered it on the bracket, marked where the bolt holes were and drilled/tapped them.

I also drilled holes on each arm on the 90 degree stock where it will get bolted to the dash.

The blue arrows are where the radio will attach, the red are where it gets bolted to the dash

Heres a pic of it in the dash (ignore the mess of wires)

Circled in red are the two bolts holding it to the dash, the green is just the support bar going back.

radio installed. Green just shows where the trim kit/radio attach to the new support.

trim piece installed hides everything

That works too..

It seemed far simpler for me to just fiberglass the kit to the hvac bezel..

I could care less how fast anyone elses car is.. the only one I care about is mine.. I don't have to be faster than the guy next to me to make it feel like my penis isn't so small..

When I went back to my home town, all the ***got ricers get mad at me because I won't race them and think I'm scared.. One guy in a PT Cruiser (I hate this guy with a passion) followed me down the road for a few miles revving at me and trying to get me to race.. I finally pulled over and told him to get out of his car because I was ready to pull him thru the window myself.. He of course didn't.. Called my mustang a P.O.S and said I rev at everybody when I drive by.. I don't.. The only time it revs is when I get in it and it blows the tires off.. Anyway, he finally sped off..

Back on topic...
I want to be able to open it up at 80 and still hold you back in the seat so hard you can't lean forward.. Most of my driving is spent doing about 70-140 when I go out... I am very lucky to live where I do, and the only things I have to worry about being on the road with me are wildlife.

I am ditching my entire suspension setup and switching to Maximum Motorsports Torque Arm/Panhard bar rear suspension with Coilovers..

Front will be tubular with coilovers also..

Between that and a 335 rear tire, I should do fairly well.

I will also be getting rid of the 4.10's and going back to a 3.73 most likely..

I wasnt necessarily talking about street racing, although I see how it came off that way. I just meant it would be hard to accelerate and really feel the pull if your tires never quit spinning. The civic was just an analogy for no traction upon take off. Anyway man, I look forward to a thread about the engine build, and am done spinning this one off subject.

Urban, your in dash set up looks nice and clean also. Almost looks like Ford put it there for you.

I completely agree

Double Din's are just meant to be in our dash..

They look so much better than a flip up screen, which is why I went thru all the extra work to swap it out..

They were handmade in Poland out of high grade italian leather..

The stitching on them is PERFECT and the grain is gorgeous..

You can get the parking brake boot and shift boot for $69 and you'll have them in about a week..

You can get multiple leather colors and any stitching color you want..

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND..

Shift boot store - RedlineGoods leather shift boots
