Double Wishbone conversion??

I've already searched this forum and could not find anything related to this. I was wondering if anyone has heard of, or seen, or actually has a double wishbone suspension for the front end of the stang?? I would love to turn my stang into a track car....eventually and I want to be able to hang with RX-7's and etc. Let me know what you guys have found out about this.

so you got that kit huh? how does the car feell? boy i've always wanted my stang to handle well and really blow through the turns. why do they provide bilstein struts and shocks?? i've heard bad things about bilstein...tell me what's up.

on the track of course....only through the twisties. cool thanks for the link ron!
there's more to a good setup than just having the correct names.

A bad IRS/double whish bone setup will perform far worse than a well sorted Mac Phurson (sp?) strut and live rear.

Weight is the enemy here. Not design.

Also which end of the car are you talking about, font/rear or both?

personally I like the look of Evolution Motorsports Tri-link setup, it still uses the live rear at the back but is controlled better and uses a Watts linkage.

It's a little pricey but not expensive, and IMO the best bet if you want to imporve the handling.

Do a Goggle search for them or search this forum.

your worried about RX-7's?
true. most of them have selfdistructed by now anyway.

But FD3 was nice looking car. there is one gut works at walmart have black 94 R1 with 18"BBS, and it does look nice

And as far as the Double A arm set up goes, if you did extensive resarch and testing, then may be it'll make our car handle better. But I think we might get better result out of tubure K-member with true coil over set up, and 5link system, which u can get prolly far cheaper then divelop your own x2A-arm setting, or adapting one from other. or drop IRS from Cobra

bc double wishbone > true macpherson strut set-up
do we even have "true Macphearsonset up on our car??

no the 2005's do though. well i think an SLA conversion at the front with an IRS in the back would improve the handling on my GT drastically. of course using a Watts link in the back with the live axle and setting up a three link would be nice as well, not to mention all the torque abuse it can handle. tom i'm interested in your suspension set-up on your previous stang, and let me know what you plan to do with your cobra. one more question, if indeed you converted to the SLA set-up in the front did you run into problems trying to install and fab??

Griggs Racing and HP Motorsports both have a system out. When searching, try using SLA for Short Long Arm suspension. Also take a look at this site: http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/t_suspension.htm#Front
Dude, that is such an awesome link :hail2:

I have the Maximum motorsport 3 link and torque arm setup on my 89 notch and it handles awesome. I would like an IRS its just too expensive to upgrade and Kenny Brown tubular parts take away 40% of the 75lbs added with the IRS. The problem is that you have to notch the rear frame which I think its alittle drastic.

Griggs has a nice SLA setup but, with all their parts its really f**king expensive. Its close to $5000 with shipping I talked to some companies that sell the kit and I'm trying to find out if there is basic pieces you can buy to get alittle bit of a start and not spend so much. Griggs is too high priced. It looks like a nice setup though.

Heres a good suspension site for mustangs
