Duct Tape Issue

When I purchased my 96 Stang Saleen, someone had put duct tape all along the driver's side door. I went to YouTube and found a vid with instructions. I sprayed one small area at a time with GooBGone ProPower and heated the tape with a blow dryer on high. Then I took a plastic putty knife (no metal to scratch the paint) and worked up an edge. It took four hours of spraying, chipping with the putty knife,, respraying, chipping some more, scratching with my fingernails, and the tape was removed. To clean the adhesive left behind, I resprayed again, heated, and then took a Magic Eraser and scrubbed it off. It takes a lot of time and patience, but eventually, it comes off clean without harming the paint. I found small dings underneath which is a project for later on.

The neighbors were coming out to watch a 51-year-old college student try to take the tape off her car and making bets against me. I should have laid down some money of my own!

Nice clean up! My only concern would be the use of that magic eraser. I always thought they were the best thing to use for whatever, until I found out that they work so well because they are literally shaving off the top of whatever you are scrubbing. But if you are just going to pull the dents and repaint it anyway, you have nothing to worry about. Just be aware that as of right now, you've probably removed a portion of the clear coat, depending on how hard you've scrubbed with that eraser.

Good luck and yeah yoiu should have put some money down. :nice:
