After installing the SC, my car needed some tunning. I took my car to get it tuned at Mike Murillo's tunning shop in San Antonio, Texas. At the shop Murillo's burned to diffrent ships, one for the street and the other one for the track. The SC was putting only 7psi with the stock pulley, and the car was producing 473 horses at the rear wheels. They told me to change the spark plugs and clean the air control valve. I don't understand why the SC was only producing 7psi, when is an S--trim and should be making 8psi and with the Anderson Power Pipe is another 2-3 psi. Are the SC 8 psi based on a regular 302 engines. I am going to change the SC pulley and try to see if i can hit 10psi and maybe hit 530 horses, that would be enough horser for my block. Any advised is appreciated. thanks

Its because you have a free flowing motor. A h/c/i 347 is a lot different than a stock 302 which is what the S trim was rated on. Boost is a measurement of restriction, fyi. A holley intake would make a nice difference but is this a stock block? If so, I wouldn't push it as near 500hp is a lot.

Like Mike said, at this point, i woulnt go TOO crazy if its a stock block. 450 is close to 525 at the fly (give or take) and that is the line for stockers.

I got good stuff inside my block, eagle 4340 forged crank, eagle 4340 h-beam rods, JE Forged Pistons, main girdle but the bad thing is that my block is stock. It was my mystake for not putting the R-302 block since the beginning. I heard that 10psi is safe for the stock block and i want to have at least 530 horses. What pulley should i go with the 2.95 or 2.75 to get 10 psi and get at least over 500 horses.

Thats impressive @ 7psi. Another 3 psi will definitely get you to your goal. That should be the limit for a stock block. Good luck and enjoy the power!

You may already know this...but a lot of people dont..including myself until last week lol...once you receive the block you will have to get it machined, the R302 block needs the most machining of all, that is why it is cheaper than a dart or man 0' war. I have heard from someone on here (maybe Daggar? ) that the last r302 block they had machined cost around 1000...I have heard that the dart and man o war blocks need much less!

thanks for the input. this is the first time i hear that, but it's good to know. I am going to get my block from KOTZUR Racing engines when my stock block brakes, they were the ones that put my 347 together. I only have 300 miles on the engine at this time, i'm probalby going to put another 300 miles before i push the pedal.

it doesnt matter that your internals are all beefed up you are still going to split that mofo right down the middle with 500 horse. I have hear 450 is the limit for anything reliable. You are making a ton of power man, i wouldnt push it unless you want to buy that nice rotating assembly again!!!!

i know that, but i also heard that the limit for the stock block is 550. i just want to push 30 more horses. maybe with the 2.95 pulley i would be able. what do you guys think.

i know that 473 is a lot of power but you are always looking for more and my goal for now is 500+++.

dude-sweet numbers!

Lyncher-I believe you're talkin about Rick91GT, I remember asking that question on another thread about the diff's between the R and a Dart or WP block...
R=$1000 extra
Dart or WP=$450 extra

Paul, dude...warm apple pie? you're killin me man

thanks, you think that a 2.95 pulley would take me to the 500 horses.

That's alot of power! You are playing with fire. Remember that when you split that block in half it will likely take those nice internals with it.

you are probably right, maybe is because i haven't step on the pedal yet to feel those horses, since the engine only have 300 miles on it. Maybe after i get to step on the pedal i would change my mind.

I just got mine dynoed too. 448rwhp and 468 rwt. Dss 347 with a level 20 stock block. I was shooting at 500 also, but Chris Tuten from CPR in Columbia said that I would push the stock block to far with those numbers. I have a novi 1000 with 7 psi. Owell you live and learn and for right now I will be happy

Nice numbers, i can't wait either but i have to put some miles on the engine first. I see that on you sig. you have a black magic fan. How good is this fan and what temp. range is the car running. I put an aluminum radiator with an electirc fan, and after hitting down town traffic the temp. goes very high like around 250-260.
