So is it? I have it at home (it was free) and hadn't installed it since it would slow me down if i didn't have a stall. now i'm getting one (edge) and am thinking of installing the cam as well. is it worth it? i mean, i'll have the cobra intake and a great exhaust but no heads. would it be a good idea to get it installed, at least for the cammed sound. :D and no, heads are not in my plans for a long time. it's not that i don't want them, i just don't have the money to buy them.

i dunno...lately ive been thinking about swapping out my cam. have everything in my sig and she kinda jerks around my car alot so im debating on upgrading to a much better cam when i swap out intakes. there are a handful of people running them out there but i can say i didnt like mine when i had my auto in the car

you're setup is very similar to what i'm getting. did you have to buy a chip when you installed the 4.10s. i have them at home and need to install them, but i do know that if i get the cam, i will need a chip for sure. JMS said they would take care of me in the tuning matter.

SO YOU'RE SAYING NOT TO GET THE CAM????

well with my auto i hated my e303. now that i swapped in the t-5, it really aint that bad but im gonna get something different sometime soon.

with the 4.10 my car just needed the 23 tooth (i think) white speedo gear. i am off 1mph for every 10mph i go. took about a month to get used to but now it doesnt phase me at all and i can tell you how fast im going in my car at any point in time in a second to the mph. i will fix it one day with a speedcal but i dont care right now seeing my car needs other stuff first.

yes...did have the 4.10 with the auto for about 8 months. it was a great gear for an auto. only problem i had was going around the corner nice and slow then punching it. would drop from second to first and nail the redline for a few seconds. thats the only shifting problems i had.

and no, had no chip or anything until about 3 months ago with the tweecer and i havent really done anything to my car since last fall and she worked decent for awhile but i think needed a tune of some sort after all that i have (pretty much heads for xmas then im done for a good long time....stupid school bills)

You def. need at least 3.55 gears for that e-303 cam(N/A). Get some 1.7 RR's to bring some more life to that cam. It's not a great cam but if it's free, it will work.

I hate me e-cam and I run 3.08 gears, no low end.

Get something with a better lobe sep. angle. I have a 5-speed and our computers hate the reduced vaccum of the e-cam. I've heard also that the #19 cam is a good cam, or you could always go custom cut and get the most horsepower possible out of a cam swap.

you should hold off until you can get either heads or a custom cam. You wont see that much power out of an E cam with stock heads. The exhaust ports flow lousy, you should get a cam with more duration on the exhaust side to help the stock heads out. Many companies offer custom grinds for specific needs.

what about the B and 1.7's + stock heads?
FMS cams suck - period, end of conversation. There are guys going 11's with the stock cam, GT40 heads, and a stock manifold, what's the point of getting some half-assed camshaft? Christ, if you are that anxious to pull the front cover, I'd keep the stock cam and retard it 4-8 degrees depending on the current centerline of the cam.

1.7's on stock heads, even with a stock camshaft is worthless.

Let's break this down here...

A FMS cam plus all the installation stuff is going to run about 300 bucks. 1.7:1 rocker arms are atleast another 200. For another 100 bucks, You could have a pair of slicks, and aftermarket axles. They will take anything you throw at it and then some, AND, they will lower ET's more than a cam swap would. I can guarantee that.

I would use the E-cam as a paperweight, and that's about it.

Why the E-cam? It had it's place in Ford Racing back in about 1985. The only thing worse than the E-cam is the F-cam.

You guys act like this is some kind of technology. This is not a Pentium I 33MHZ vs. a Pentium IV 2.5 GIG race. People are still using the same style mufflers from 50 years ago today, they still use the same style carbs, they still use the same style valves, last I heard pistons were still round. The basic idea is that what you have cost more money than what we have and therefore it must be better. You think that the E-cam is outdated and your cam is the most modern cam for all mustangs. Let me ask you this. What will a future cam bring to my 306? In another decade from today are you telling us that the cam of today will be outdated? Maybe you should tell those HEMI guys from the 70's that they should use a different motor in their cars because they are 25 years old now. PLEASE!!!!! They would STOMP you and me today!
