I have an Eaton 31-spline differential in my GT. I put it in about a year ago after I shelled an Auburn Pro. I bought it used off of Ebay, said it was "installed but never used". Looked good, was clean, no sign of wear or breakage, although I must say I'm not an expert on differentials.

It recently started chattering a fair amount thru sharp turns, enough to be fairly annoying. My buddy said to add more friction modifier, so I put in another half bottle. It's still chattering, although I think it's less maybe.

What's this all about? Are the clutch packs going out?

I have <5k miles on this differential. Maybe 8 passes on slicks, another 25 or less on drag radials, and maybe 30 passes on the street.

I think it is the clutches engaging and disengaging! I thik its normal, but could be wrong.I was watching something on Popular hot-rodtv the other day and they were going over different kinds of rear ends and he was explaing about some of them are "noisy" going aroud turns!
