Edelbrock 60379's + crane 2031 cam + 1.7 cobra rockers = piston notching/flycutting?

I am putting edelbrock 60379's on my car over winter and thought I had decided on a cam, the crane 2031. From my understanding, the crane 2031 run a long with these heads would not require modifying the pistons... Well I recently spoke to a member with this combo, and he says that he had to notch his pistons due to the crane 2031 cam. So now I am confused... I don't want to have to notch the pistons. I just want it to be a bolt on and go. If I do have to notch them, then I will considering the crane 2040 cam instead, which is an e-cam. Would the 2040 require notching the pistons as well when run with 1.6 rockers? :shrug: :shrug: :shrug:

Thanks maverick... Do you think the 2040 would be a good daily driver street cam? I was originally planning on the 2031, but if piston notching is required, then it's out of the question. I just want a mild cam that will give good power on the street and pass emissions, with a nice sounding idle. If I go with the 2040, would it matter any if I got the e-cam instead? There is no difference at all between the two? I remember reading somewhere that the 2040 has the same specs as the e-cam, but makes more power. :shrug:
 
yup every motor is different, but that exact combo cleared fine on my 90 shortblock straight up, didnt try advancing it any, but it looks like it should be ok there also.

Crane Cams actually makes the Ford Racing E303. If you're gonna get it they are identical...buy whatever one is cheaper.
