efi to carb

You will loose any chance of passing emissions.

Carb won't make more power than efi, if both are tuned properly.

Also, efi will be more driveable for the same power as a carb.
At the same power level you will see less fuel economy with a carb.

EFI can provide a very good combo, which is why no auto manufacturer uses carbs.

My opinion.
Don't waste your time and money.

OK thanks. Next question, the other route i can take, is heads, cam, EFI intake and manifold, and a mass air conversion. Does that sound right? I priced all the parts from edelbrock(performer series), except the mass air which is from ford racing. Or do you recommend other brands?

Trickflow makes a nice setup. Heads, cam, Roller rockers, pushrods, intake, and vavle covers for around $2100 street heat, or $2200 track heat.
Makes about 360hp on a 9.5/1 306.

Thanks, do they sell it in a package? Should i go for the mass air also, everyone is sayin yes. would the hp numbers be much different for a stock 302?

Only reason really to go carb is for a bigger motor on a budget, a 351 based or big block engine is very cheap if you put a decent intake and carb on it.. just my two cents, I wouldn't carb a 302 or 306.. don't carb it, blow it. :)

You are right sir but inorder to make the same power with a efi as apossed to a carb its going to cost more.
http://store.summitracing.com/partd...838998+4294858290+4294908331+115&autoview=sku this kit costs $2250
now you have also been told to do a mass air which costs another 320-550 dollars depending on what you need. Now if later you are going to continue to upgrade then the fuel deliver system needs to be upgraded which is going to run you another 150 bucks. then there is a upgrade to fuel rails and injectors. the list goes on and on. As far as drivability with a carb goes they can be just as good. Only troubles i ever have with mine are in coldish weather. You need to allow engine to warm up. I have talked to guys with street avenger carbs in my town driving in same weather and they have no problem. Holley's new street carbs and edelbrocks versions are a far cry improvement. Gas milage yes i agree with jason efi is more efficent. I do believe you will get more power with a carb for less money though

Well it looks like im gonna stay with the efi setup. Im gonna go with the package from Trickflow, and the mass air from ford racing. Also id like to add an msd ignition and blaster coil, and mabye a basic nitrous kit, which might have to wait, cause thats pretty much my limit right now
