First off it's hiya from the newbie and apologies for anything spelt\named wrong as i'm over in the UK :D

Just picked up this '68 Coupe for my girlfriend

Also got the '70 Coupe under the cover

The '68 is running a 200 Straight 6 & the '70 has the 302 V8. When fuel costs as much as it does over here you're screwed anyway so might as well make it an 8 View attachment 395896

Here come the questions.

I've searched through this forum and a few others & got some great info on what's needed for the swap i.e. front suspension setup, tranny, diff etc.

The '70 we've got is quite a way off economical repair being over here and having to get everything shipped over. Also, as you can imagine, donor Mustangs aren't too common either so we've decided to swap all the running gear from the '70 to the '68.

Will it be as simple as that ? Will the '70 parts bolt onto the '68 or were there chassis changes between the years that'll stop stuff fitting ?

Vice versa as well, all the stuff we strip off the '68, will it be ok to drop into the '70 ?

Any major areas to be careful about ?

The '70 has power steering and servo brakes whereas the '68 has neither. From what I can see it seems as though this will all be ok to come over as well ?

Sorry for all the questions on a 1st post but hey ho :D

Now for the important stuff. Anyone got any links for lowering blocks & springs :D About 2" should do it.

Thanks in advance.

Reading the FAQ on here, it is wider from hub to hub.

All the mounts should be in the same place tho shouldn't they ? Just that it pushes the wheel track out a little ?

Probably end up getting some wheels with a better offset.

Actually, that leads me to my next Q :D

We're looking at getting some Torq Thrust 2 wheels for it (Not common over here but then neither are Mustangs :D), with fitting the '70 axle anyone know the widest we'd be able to go on the wheels and what offset would be needed ?

That's the plan :D

The other reason for the swap at the mo is that my girlfriend can't actually drive it with it not having power brakes. She's tiny & they're too heavy for her. Ahhh well, suppose it means that at least I get to use it for a bit :D
