Now we have used an output over canbus to drive the pwm boost control circuit. These extra ports can be used to drive alot of functions, idle valve ect.
The Tinyiox even has a I2C bus for plugging in a LC1 directly.... thats right no need to wire the wideband in you just plug in the jack.

Now before we get to far ahead of ourselves we can't program any outputs to do anything until we assign the ports to actual cpu pins.

Take notice that in the upper left hand of these two photos there are two seperate devices that are shown, in the top photo i have the MS selected and it is identified as Frankenstang, the lower photo the deivice is the TinyIOx.
This is where we will assign the cpu pins, the channels can still be programmed in the MS but without pins assigned to the channels they will do nothing.

I am still playing around with it and i only touched the surface of what you are able to do with this. it can even drive led displays with values of any sensor you have connected to any device. pretty cool.

I said i would do a writeup on the TinyIOx install in my DIYPNP and here it is, I have left the extra schematics for the circuits out for now and will add them in a later post. Now on to the pictures!

here is the TinyIOx in the picture above, it comes with a proto area that can be removed. I used the area in my DIYPNP to build the circuits i needed so i snapped this off and kept it for possible future use. This was a required upgrade as all the mods i did earlier used up my extra IO.

This photo shows Where i decided to install the expansion board, in hindsight i should have mounted it 180* and drilled a hole in the case for plugging in devices to the I2C bus. This board directly accepts the I2C bus from innovate LC devices, you could put an LC1 in each header tube and just daisy chain them together and set them up in the TinyIOx for independent cylinder fuel trim. If one so desired. You can also see the Proto area that i will be working in for the basic transistor relay circuits. This area has many ground points available in the header.

This board has seen quite a few modifications over the last year or so they hold up to abuse well. In the proto area the holes with lines drawn between them are linked this makes things easy when multiple components need to be added. I already have the 2N2222A NPN transistors soldered in, the emitter goes directly to ground in this circuit. A transistor works by acting like a switch, when you trigger the base from the ecu pin the collector allows current to flow to the emitter.

I took this photo a bit late in the process, I have added the connections from the GPIO [tinyiox] to the base of the transistor and added an IN4001 diode to the collector. The diode gets connected with the banded end tward 12v. I soldered these and the wire with 12v on it all at once as it was the easiest way to do it.

There was a slight change after i got done, i forgot to add the 1k resistor inline between the base and the GPIO pin..... not sure what the implications of this mistake would have been, it was late Im glad i checked twice before testing.

When the rest of my supplies get here i will be building a few more circuits, i want to add sensors so i am going to go ahead and build the conditioning circuits. I am also adding the VSS signal to datalog MPH.

What are the conditioning circuits going to be used for...fuel level or something else?

What is your final goal for all the upgrades to the computer? I am quite interested in everything you have going on.

Pretty much everything, i have 6 unused ADC inputs open so if i build the conditioning circuits I can then add 6 sensors. I want to do fuel pressure, ambient air temp, fuel level, oil temp, VSS input. That will leave 1 open for future.
I also have 2 timer inputs available for PWM inputs for future.

The final goal is to have more functionality and the required inputs to do a digital dash display like you have done. great job on that so far, I like it.

Thank you for the positive feedback. I am about to order the components to build my own power supply/switch, since I believe have been able to identify the necessary parts. I am buying (3) of each component, so I can build more than one if people are wanting one.

How are you planning to handle the issue with fuel slosh on the fuel level gauge? I have found a signal conditioner, but would rather not spend the $60ish for it. Do you know a way for Tunerstudio or a circuit that can use an average reading over a set period of time? (ex: getting a reading of 1.1-1.3V over a minute and output the average (V) of that time period)

That is a good question, i will need time to figure that one out.

I just got a response back from EFIAnalytics about the fuel level issue. They said that we could turn down the Lag Factor to smooth out the reading.

Then comes the question are we able to use the reading directly from the fuel level sensor now or do we have to convert the signal to a digital one?
 
So today I finalized the order for my cam, it will be a billet bump-stick optimized for my combo. I spent almost 2 hours total on the phone with Brian Freezy, this guy is awesome took his time to explained everything to me and made sure he understood exactly what i had and wanted from the combo. He also said that i absolutely had to degree the cam in. Anyone have a suggestion for the timing set? also a suggestion for a budget degree wheel... I am sure i can make a piston stop easy, I also have a dial indicator.

I will grab that torch and run with it, I was talking to my wife about things i still needed to buy and how much stuff was going to cost. I thought for sure she was going to loose her :poo: :oops:.... so you can appreciate the relief i felt when she asked me why i was cheaping out on some things. :eek:
Me: well i dont need a billet cam the regular core will work.
Wife: dont be a cheap ass just get the good one.
Me: I am going to try and reuse the valve springs i have on the heads to save some money.
Wife: Just buy the set the cam guy told you to run and do it right the first time.
Me: the block doesnt have to be zero decked its just a quench distance thing and i am going to run the cheaper bearings i dont need really expensive stuff for a street car.
Wife: I dont know what any of that means, just do it. This way when I decide to drive the mustang I dont have to worry about it coming apart again. BTW i went and made myself a set of keys for it so i can drive it to work when you dont.:cautious::cautious::cautious::cautious::cautious::cautious: I am mildly concerned about this statement.

Either way so far no threats concerning my personal safety:D we will see if that still holds true when the parts start showing up.

Wow, you got yourself a keeper there dude! I got engaged earlier this year so I gotta make sure I get all my car stuff done before we join our accounts LOL :eek: Mine can't drive a stick so I'm at least safe on the her driving it part ;)
 
I've met her, she's, well, a keeper, you don't have anything to worry about till you get franky up and running, then you might want to keep an eye on her luggage.
