Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

I tried the flat shift function for the first time on a long stretch of empty road, practicing my launch. 300' burn out thru 2nd gear was cool, I never have to lift when I push the clutch in it sets the limiter too 2500rpm.


Then I did it again going into 3rd.

SC didn't like that, broke the tensioner, spun the nut off the snout and almost lost my pulley, shredded the belt and tore my wiring off the e fan.......

Somethings gonna have to change.
 
Yeah I turned the timing back up on a fresh set of plugs to do some detonation and timing anealment reading. Ran freakin awesome till the ahh incident..... had the wife bring me some supplies to get the fan going temp, and unhooked the IC piping at the tb, threw the short belt on it. (Only one tensioner went kablewy) and got her home.
 
changed out some things in the belt department, made a pulley mount instead of a second tensioner. seems to work well, time will tell.

going to drive it a bit until I can hit up harbor freight for a cheap press. my snout rebuild kit just arrived and I'm iching to get it fixed. No more marbles!!!!!!

while its out I will do the powder coating of the parts I made, still need to order some more tubing for the bypass I made I just cant live with the makeshift one on there now.

I have considered doing a carb intake swap drilled for injectors, but I'm wondering how much low end torque I will give up if I go that route. I will say this the m90 pulled my rpm band way down. used to be able to spin her up to 6500 or more until valve float occurred, now she doesn't like to rev past 5500 or so. basically when the cam signs off so does the power even though I'm still making 5-6 psi.

any thoughts on the intake swap???? basically it would be like the one hoopty5.0 is doing on his 351 build. if I did there would be room for another m90.:chin

Sounds like you are hitting the efficiency wall on airflow. Maybe you need to step up to an m112?

Could be done really cheap using eBay stuff........

I think it may result in a divorce though.

If I had a different project I might get away with it, right now I have a dismantled 72VW bus in my work area...... i get to build her a toy, then I get free range again.
Certainly can be done cheap with the help of ebay. My non-351 related turbo system expenditures will be less than $1k not counting the stuff I already had laying around and traded for.

hmmm just read some sweet writeups on compound boost systems. that would be awesome, all I need is to flip headers, build crosspipe, down pipe, mount t4 flange ect ect........

man now I have a plan for the future. imagine 8psi on the hit and 14 at redline.
the hit being anywhere in the rpm band.

The fastest car in my area is a compound boost terminator. He's running the factory blower with a port job and twins. Wicked car.

He beat a turbo underground racing lambo, let's put it that way.

Got to play with the car today and I found more power! By pulling more timing........ :shrug:

Butt dyno don't lie, 21* at 8psi and leaned it out some from 11.3 too 11.8-11.9...... I believe I was fighting detonation from too much timing with an overly rich mixture. The car responds much crisper with the new tune. Judging from my Ve table peak torque is between 1700- 2000 rpm. That's weird, the ecam is a 2500 to 5500 rpm cam.

Can anyone tell me why this is???:scratch:
