Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

Of coarse I'll send it to him...pm me your address and I'll try to send it out Saturday. I believe it fits 90 to 93... the earlier quarter interior trim is different. I'll get them out of the tote and take a couple pics tomorrow for you buddy :nice:

I don't need them and you've helped me out a lot.

My welder quite working...... damn it! :fuss:

I was gonna build a frame for the batteries to sit in, not now......

Now I'm gonna figure out something else, maybe make a flat floor in the spare tire space out of wood... maybe not.... I just can't see spending loads of money on two battery boxes that will work.

I may make a flat floor out of wood and bolt a couple trays down to it, it will work but there is a part of me that wants to hurt people for doing just this.

Ideally I would lay the batteries down on there sides this would make for an almost flush install, they are agm batteries so maybe it's possible. I did not find any tray or box options for laying a group 65 battery on its side however. Actually it's hard to find any box save for a marine box for a group 65......

Took me 2 JY and 4cars to find all these pieces. After a good cleaning they got the adhesion promoter and black dye treatment. This works out great, they will match the black felt I will use for the amp rack.

The AGM batteries are spiral core and are designed for the spirals to fall as the battery ages. Putting them on their side would hinder that process.

Good score at the JY... I had a couple of those parts laying around...but you beat me to it.

Let me know if there are any other parts you need....I can throw them in a box with the cover if I have'em.

I have to go into work at 1pm today.... yay.... this means from right now I only have 2 hrs to work on the car... :notnice:

My goal will be to make a new cover from hard board for the spare tire well. Once this is in and the carpet has been laid over it I will make a false floor in the trunk area, this will serve to hide the wiring, amps, batteries and anything else I may mount back there....

Now to figure out where I put my motivation.....:chin

I found it's easier to keep it right next to my beer. That helps me to stay pretty well constantly motivated.:D

I need to go get some of those plastic push clips, the ones I pulled out are destroyed.
I usually keep more beer next to my beer.. I have to get ready for work..:(

I used a piece of peg board to make the first "floor" to cover the negative space in the remaining spare tire area. I was able to get the batteries mounted but need to modify them a bit, I want more beefy. I will end up covering the batteries with the factory carpet, I may slit it so that I can tuck it into the space around them. Once the amps get mounted and wired and all my fuses/circuit breakers for the main power get installed I will cover the whole lot with a false floor made from MDF and covered in the black felt.

Where I got to today.....

don't mind the white cable it's going away, I just needed to move the car. Reminds me I need to pick up more cable ends for 1/0 welding cable.

Sucks going in on a Saturday afternoon.

Can't wait to see the cover on your car...and the trunk complete. That's hella speaker wire, man.

The spare tire well looks like the perfect place for batteries. How far do they sit up out of the well ?

I just want to give a shout out to Scott @90sickfox a big thank you for the convertible top cover. It came in yesterday I will get some pics of it on the car hopefully this afternoon.

I got the amps hooked up yesterday, and realized how big these older style amps are compared to what they make today. Lol. Still have to mount them permanently, but due to space limitations I may need to do something different or just mount them "not square" which will aggravate my OCD...... I never put the carpet in... Still have to do that as well...... Maybe use it to hide the wires and leave the amps exposed.

Overall the system sounds great, the one sub in the box really beats and at reasonable sound levels the clarity is amazing. The extra tweeters in the door panels are officially useless, I was getting distortion from them. Now they are just there to make the panel look good.

Getting closer to the light now, I still need to make the false floor for the trunk and install the seats. Then I can clean the car up and take some final pics of her. Maybe even go for a drive:eek:
