Well, I just sold my LT's moslty because I have had a change of heart. I was going to shoot for mid 13's with bolt-ons, but I dont want to deal with jacking the motor up to install headers. Plus, it was gonna be expensive with having to get a new h-pipe, all just to get some more midrange power. My car makes plenty of low en tq, it just needs more power above 4k rpm, which is where i am at when I drag/road race. Plus, I plan on doing turbo downn the line, so it doesnt make sense to throw a ton of $$ at headers since I'll be replacing them anyways.

I found some very decent prices on shorties and have read a ton of info, and it seems that the unequals are easier to install and have less clearance problems. Do the unequals make significantly less hp/tq, or are they about the same? Is my car gonna drone like crazy or be insanely loud with the Flowmasters it has on now?

Also does anyone have the link for that dyno comparison in MM&FF that compared LT's to shorties? I searched for an hour but I cant find it on their site. :fuss:

Well if you're going to be replacing them anyway then I would just leave the stockers on. You won't see any big gains with headers unless you go with long tubes. When MM&FF did an article two years ago with a header comparison, the unequal and equal headers only gained a couple horses on a stock GT. Even installing shorties is a pain in the butt.

your not going to see that much of a diff between unequal and equal maybe a few more ft/lb of torque

I'd just wait till you get the turbo kit if its not going to be that long or if you cant wait get some shorties off somebody that went to l/t so it doesnt cost as much and you should be able to sell them for the same price

I am buying a TFS intake, so thats taken care of. I am looking for used also, which is what I might do. And that article showed that actually shorties gainedm ore peak hp than the lt's, but they made alot less mid range tq.

And the turbo kit will most likely be going on next winter, after I can save some more money.
