I saw that they sell exhaust inserts, anyone used them? i want to stay with a free flowing exhaust cause im going to be running a turbo, so no chambered anything for me. anyone have any suggestions?

p.s. no flaming about the sidepipes :D

I don't know that you can buy inserts for any old exhaust system. My Bassanis came with inserts (that I've never used). According to a recent article I read, they had no effect on HP/TQ numbers. No idea if the same is true with all of them though.

This thread is useless without pics :rlaugh:

The inserts you speak of go inside the header at the collector. I have no experience with them, but that may clear up what you are talking about. So do you have cherry bombs on that thing or what? :D

hahahhaa no no, i posted a thread a while back with pics. they look old vette sidepipes with the heat shields. i got them in summit and they are made by patriot. i am just trying to quiet them down and keep the look and no backpressure. anybody else used the inserts or have an idea?

you could maybe get a custom exhaust made to have a Y where one side goes off into your side pipe and then the other side goes on to the back for a full exhaust and have some sort of valve to block one or the other. If you can tolerate the loudness or feel like making some noise, open the side pipe and for normal driving, use the full tail. It would be some work and maybe not the funnest thing to do, but it would allow you to keep your side pipes and calm it down w/ full exhaust
