Hello guys,

This is my first post on the site! I recently purchased a 1998 GT with a 5 speed and black leather interior. I had just purchased a Jegs o/r h-pipe and had hell installing it. Both driver side studs backed out, and one passenger side stud backed out. I had to bang the passenger side pipe in so much so that it wouldnt rub the transmission crossmember im probably going to be ordering a pypes offroad X-pipe soon to replace it. What is the procedure for getting the studs back into the manifolds?

Thanks guys! great site

Do yourself a favor and buy a quality pipe. It may cost more, but will install in a few hours instead of a day plus.

How did you get the studs out? You could always drill out the holes and but a nut and bolt in. I've had success with that on a few cars.

I agree! Purchase a high quality mid pipe! I installed a UPR off road x on my car and the install was a pain! Always had a header leak no matter what i would do! I would get a magnaflow or slp.

Get a quality pipe. My Magnaflow took me 45 minutes, and that was on my back.

Well im going to be trying to put the studs tomorrow and then fit the existing pipe up for now. What kind of luck have you guys had with BBK mid pipes? Im looking for something for under 300 bucks. The Jegs cost me 124 bucks and it obviously showed with the quality. I will never order from jegs again, they never ship the hardware and their quality is horrible. Would you guys recommend putting some sort of lock tight on the studs threads before threading them in? Also, i have been looking at cat backs for my car, I would like a loud and aggressive tone but for a reasonable price.

thanks a lot guys.!

I purchased my old MAC O/R H-pipe for $160 shipped. The quality, hardware, and ease of installation was top-notch

Are you interested in a chambered or straight-through muffler design?

I would say Mac is still relatively cheap but maintains good quality. As far as cat backs go. You can go on youtube and check out all the exhaust combos you want. The cheapest route would be a set of flowmaster 40 series welded into the stock pipes. So many different combos and you really cannot go wrong on a mustang. Most dislike SLPlm1's with offroad X due to the lack of tone and rasp. Some love it. So it is all preference.

Thanks guys!

I would probably go for a straight through resonator type.

I got a MAC offroad H pipe and it installed pretty easily, then I got a pair of Spintech 2 cases and dumped em just before the rear end LOVE it. As someone said tho really cant go wrong with a 2v.
