Ok i just got the GT rear valence for my 65 coupe. But to be honest i'm not a big fan of the stock GT exhaust trumpets. It looks like those vents might add a little more back preasure too?? What other exhaust tips are you guys running on your 65/66 with GT valence? I'd like to have something in stainless and possilby with the rolled lips. Anyone use anything like this with a proper angle cut to it to match the panel? Thanks!!

I used to have the GT valance and I had just plain old rolled tip 2.5" chrome sticking out about an inch or two on top. They looked good, I dump mine now right out of the Borlas in front of the axle.

The key is don't stick them out too far out of the valance as it totally kills the look (say Cheesy). It will look nice, the trumpets really are not feasable if you are running anything that is decent sized....

Hey which model of the XR-1's do you run? I see a few different ones on borlas web page. How aggresive of an idle do you have? I run dynomax turbos i'm assuming the borlas sound better at idle (better as in aggresive ) At WOT how do they compare in volume compared to the Flow 40's? Heck you dont happen to have a sound clip by any possible chance do you?? thanks!!

I think I have the 16" sportsman 2.5" in, 2.5" out.

They are quieter than my flow 40's were at idle, deeper tone though, but at WOT they are awesome sounding, just plain mean. I think the Dr. Gas X pipe has something to do with it. Bfore this set up I had a shop made X with the flow 40's and I had 2.5" all the way. Now I have 3" to the X and 2.5" from the X back.

This system has no drone whatsoever. It is nice.

As for your highjack.....second link makes it pretty obvious...."Borla Stingers"...sounds like a brand to me.

I've always prefered to build the motor for power a good exhaust note just comes along for the ride.

dodgestang is on it, just note that his tips stick out just right, not too far or you will look like a hillbilly, not that there is anything wrong with that, hell I'm a red neck I just don't like to advertise it.

My tips were not the angle cut, slashed or whatever, mine were just just flat and rolled. Both look nice...

Take a look at mine. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2346195 The angle cut chrome 2 1/2" tips I bought at Pep Boys. The angle works out just fine. Keep them about one inch from the valence for best looks. Email me if you would like more pics.

To be straight up honest with you. You will probably never get your 289 to sound like that without some serious serious mods. The modular 4.6 is a completely different design engine, and does have one of the best sounds. A muffler won't give you that sound.
