Alright so my current exhaust setup sucks...

I have mac l/t headers which is good..then it goes to these straight custom catted pipes welded into flowmaster mufflers..welded to the stock 2 1/4 pipes out the back

Now I did plan on buying a o/r h pipe to try and make it sounds better + gain some power up top...but now Im thinking maybe I should just get some new more aggressive mufflers..maybe some slps?...

I like the raspy tone that the slp's or bassani mufflers make.

You kinda do.

You should look into getting an actual mid pipe. Our engines don't fire evenly (left side - right side - left side - right side - etc). The crossover allows gases to flow more evenly. So if one side has 2 exhaust pulses following closely, then the other has an empty spot, a vacuum. When they reach the middle, they can split. The little area of vacuum in the other pipe sucks a pulse in, speeding up the entire flow.

Unless of course, you are running nothing but pipe. With no restriction, the exhaust can do whatever the hell you want it to do, and you'll gain top-end horsepower. You'll also lose a good bit of low end torque. Probably sounds dumb, too.

At least that's how I understand it.

No but I heard a guy with a 2V with straight pipes and it sounded like ***** IMO.

To the OP: I would look into a MAC H Pipe (More Old School Muscle Car Sound) since thats the headers you have, it will be a perfect match and will give you a little more power since it will be 2.5 instead if the 2.25. Plus if anything it will sound a hell of a lot better. I would also look into a catback of your choice (Magnaflow, SLP, Bassani, ect) to finish off you exhaust.

If you want to keep a raspy sound you might want to look into a O/R X pipe and just modify that, that is what I did with mine. I had a Magnaflow O/R X and Catback and wanted to keep everything and save some money so I bought these ball joint pieces from Summitt. After cutting off the correct amount of my X Pipe I welded the pieces form Summitt on to the X Pipes and it fits perfect and I still have the sound I wanted.

Yea..well the mid pipe is 2.5 inch pipe..but I would imagine I would still gain some horses with an o/r pipe...I was thinking or h pipe from Mac...but Ill probably keep the flowmasters for now..and see what it sounds like...if it sounds like arse....I might be goin with some slps when I get some cash.

the h and x are for more torque. Lets be honest these motors dont make a hell of a lot of power in stock form. Im also running a roots supercharger which make a ton of torque right off idle, thats why im not running mid pipe.
