this is what i recomend

3k miles with regular oil for most cars and trucks...

3k with full synthetics on N/A performance cars...

2.5k with royal purple oil on power adder performance cars..

You are WRONG!!

I have torn down motors that used extended oil change intervals with synthetic (Mobil 1), 104,000 85' GT 5.0L, oil/filter changed every 10,000 miles and you could still see the hone marks, it was so clean you could eat off of it.

160,000 mile 360 cid American Motors V8, synthetic (Amsoil) oil/filter changed every 15,000 miles, same thing, clean as a whistle.

76,000 mile 351C 4V, dino oil (Quaker State-most dino oils are better than this junk) changed every 3,000 miles, extreme wear, sludge(like soft candle wax) and 5 clogged lifters.

I would trust ONLY good Synthetic Oils for extended oil change intervals (not to excede 10,000 miles (as long as you use a good filter).

3,000 mile intervals are a waste of good oil (synthetic) and Oil companies that recommend them for syn oil are only wanting to increase their profits--they don't care about your engine.

Pretty sure that when I drop my used oil off it is sold back to oil companies.....yes?

If your so worried about oil consumption, why are you driving a Mustang, shouldnt you be driving a Hybrid??

The 85' was my car caught fire and burned to the ground and after the Insurance settlement some one bought the engine from the wrecker yard, they called me to ask about how the car was cared for and asked if I wanted to come buy when they tore it down to check it, so I did.

The second one was a Amsoil distributor that I bought oil from and he tore his engine down along with some Amsoil technicians as part of an Amsoil test.

The third one was my car and it was rebuilt because of the clogged lifters.

Here is a link to a site that explains where used oil goes. Only a small portion gets refined into motor oil again.

One thing that has been overlooked is the fact that most of the companies with the extended oil intervals recommend the filter to be changed so often. In most cases the oil is fine, and all that is required is a filter change. I have 35,000 miles on my Ram 1500 and been doing 15,000 mile oil change interval, replacing the filter at 7500miles and have showed zero problems. Even the oil filter analysis I had done a few months ago showed nothing abnormal in terms of wear. Like mentioned before, there are a lot of new cars that have an indicator stating when they need the oil to be changed. My Dad's Tahoe for instance didnt need its first oil change till a little after 7k, and the next one was at 15k. All this was on dino oil

Very true, however there are some options out there.

Amsoil has their Super Duty filters which are rated for 12,500 miles

got this oil issue is gay.

1. yes you still have to change filters at you filters recomended changing point.

2. if you don't belive it have the oil tested at a lab.

end of story bottom line. systhetic oil does not go bad at 3k. thak you drive through.
