I just ordered a F303 cam, I dont plan to replace the heads right away so I am wondering is there anything that I should replace such as the rockers for this set up. I am doing the EFI swap into my classic mustang and the only mods to the motor for now that I plan to do is the F303 cam, Long tube headers, Msd distributer, Msd blaster 2 coil, and Ford Racing King Cobra clutch. Any suggestions are greatly needed and if you know where I can order the part for a good price that would be good too..

Any of the "cheerleader" cams have too much lift or lobe profile, for the stock valve train to control it.

I have a couple buddies that run the b-cam on stock valvetrain and have had no issues, but alas i have no personal experience in the matter.

i have an Fcam in my car. i went with some 1.6 roller rockers when i did it. to try and save the valve guides. it does ok. the stock heads are the big flow problem. the valve springs are weak. very noticeable when the nitrous hits. i bought the TFS spring kit for iron heads, but never got around to putting them on. ended up buying some AFR heads instead.

so yes it will work. i would suggest roller rockers, and possibly upgraded springs. if you wanna get the springs pm me.

yes it will work . . . if they are good shape (not 100k+ miles).

However, using it with the stock heads will lose usable power. IMO, the cam is the last thing you need to touch on any 5.0

I'M RUNNING THE F CAM WITH STOCK 95 GT HEADS AND NO ISSUES FOR 4 YRS. EVEN GOT STOCK ROCKERS TOO.

ONLY THING I'M LACKING IS A SET OF GOOD HEADS AND 1.6 ROLLER ROCKERS.

I LOVE THE TOP END IT HAS WITH THIS CAM. FROM 2800 TO 6000 IT PULLS NICE.

The stock E7/GT40p/GT40 (explorer) exhaust valve springs, regardless of mileage, will bind @.510" lift. Add that to the fact that the pressure rate to control the valves with the "cheerleader" cams lobes profiles is not part of the stock springs either, and you have a cam-valve train mismatch....... or the chance of a valve train failure that could cause engine damage.

View attachment 286035.... I have a Mustang from a customer in queue for such a failure.... new set of springs, retainers, locks, one roller rocker and pushrods.... he was lucky no major damage was caused, unlike other E, B, F, Stg 1 cam cases I've worked in the past. Your car, your dough, your prerogative though.

LOL . . . maybe the stock rockers keep them alive.

60k mile valve springs, stock rockers. Granted it aint out to 6000 but it didn't float . . . yet.

I am not saying you shouldn't run better springs but it can be done. Just like you can run a multitude of different things on a car . . . You know you shouldn't but sometimes you don't care or are not worried about the consequences.

Now has a TKO . . . and subsequently haven't been to the track.
