Progress Thread Father Time: High-$ anti-dent defense system

Au contraire mon ami.

Per LMR's site on their DCMR tail lights...

"These are made from the original Ford tooling and manufactured here in the USA! This means you get the highest-quality tail light lenses available! These lights feature the same pattern as the original lights and include the Ford logo embossed into the lens."

Hmm... Well, that's a change. I have some LMR lenses that don't on Black Jack & on the shelf.

Doesn't matter. Noobz talked me into the other lights. Just can't decide between 93 Cobra and the 85-ish light without pinstripes.

My preference is without but let's put that aside:

If you get the plain ones, you have more options. If you should decide that tint is appropriate for that paint color, you could tint the lenses and easily lay the stripes over the top if you decide to go down that road.

Another thing that comes to mind because I've used it before, is this: https://steelfxpatinas.com/product/spraymax-2k-clear-coat/

To go over the top of whatever you come up with. *twitching Groucho eyebrow smiley that I don't have*

That looks SICKKK

The Cobra repops just don't sit right with me. The incorrect striping around the side (over the reflector) just looks wrong to me (and I know, it is!). And the fact that the stripes are now just tape, rather than paint, is another mark against them, imo.

Also, imo, 83-84 tails (w/black trim) might look better with your paint, versus the 85-86's (w/charcoal trim).

.... before I order and end up with euros.

@FastDriver

Fyi, the 4-eye tail lights are not as deep as the aero-nose tails.... by putting 83-86 tail lights on an 87+up car, about 1/2"-3/4" of the top horizontal surface of the rear bumper is now going to be visible. On the upper end of things, the hatch will also now be overhanging the tail lights by about the same amount. If any of that matters to ya...

You're no fun.

If the cobra pin stripes are painted on, and they are the correct size, then can I can remove the pin stripes with a razor or some kind of removal process?

You're no fun.

Here's more no fun for ya...

The Cobra tail lights are just resurrected SVO lights, so they are actually the shallower lens. Yep, 93 Cobras came from the factory with the recessed tail lights/exposed bumper surface/hatch overbite.

There's no winning for you on this one. Gonna have to give up sumthing.

Edit:
Here... finally got some good news for you... came across a rear splitter for ya. (Note the recessed tail lights also.)

@FastDriver - To save you time and trouble, and most importantly, to make sure you didn't miss out on them, I went ahead and ordered these for you. Looking forward to seeing how they enhance your ride. I think they'll be the "icing on the cake".

Since I know you're too proud to accept them as a gift, and to avoid the impropriety of a government employee accepting a gift, you can just pay me back later... ;)
