Progress Thread Finally got a new truck

I didn't think about that. That wouldn't give me any issues? Weird sounds, harsh ride?

When I ran my Mach 1 springs, I did it without front isolators. Didn't really experience any harshness or weird sounds.

I've heard great things about the H&R springs. MM sells them. I have a rear pair on my car with front coil-overs and no complaints.

Well, Eibach and MM/H&R seem to be the consensus here. Thanks guys. With the isolators removed, Im guessing maybe a difference of a 1/2?

Way back I had eibach pros. The stance they gave looked great. Ride was a little bumpy but I still had the factory struts/shocks.

BTW, I think Maximun’s spring line is H&R.

I know alot of guys run the pro kit, but I have always found their springs a bit a harsh and they seem to settle a little lower than advertised.

A new poly isolator might drop it about 1/2". An old, worn out compressed rubber isolator might drop it 1/4" when removed.

I've seen guys put thin each shrink on the bottom coil where it contacts the spring cup, or used a ton of electrical tape to try and give it some sort of cushion

I used electrical tape on all my springs coils that would contact the perches. No weird sounds or anything and it gave me an extra almost half inch of drop all around.

Some people say without them you'll get noises but I've done on a few cars and never had an issue. My coupe dosn't have any in the rear and my daily driver 88 hatch doesn't have any at all and never has. I've known people to also wrap the end coils with electrical tape to prevent noise from occurring.. not sure how well that holds up though.

I put brand new isolators in when I installed the new shocks and quads. I probably pull those isolators out and see what it looks like. I thought those were pretty important to have installed.

I drove my car to work this morning and got a nasty chip in my front cover, and a little one in the new windshield. I work 26 miles away from home and really have to take the interstate or local city highways to get to work. There was a truck that was dropping rocks and I heard them hit the car And windshield but that’s the only one I found that damaged the paint. Well, I managed to go a year without any. Ive been driving it quite bit lately so I guess it’s no surprise. It’s a big one though. I think I have some left over touchup paint at home. Taking city streets home.

That sucks. At least you work in the right place to get it fixed if you need to!!
And man....... I can’t believe that was a year already since reading about your new paint.

Still probably better than spring CLAMPS, which is another thing people are doing. That one's even worse because it's not free.
Agreed lol. For the record,I’m not spouting off saying it’s the correct way to go about lowering etc. There are far better ways. But for me,I trim a quarter at a time until I get the height I’m looking for while retaining the isolators and have had zero issues:shrug:

It’s a badge of honor. It says you’re not a trailer queen pussey ( have to spell it wrong to get it to post)
Yeah @CarMichael Angelo I see your point. The thing that worries me is its chipped on that aftermarket front cover. I'm hoping it doesn't get worse. I don't know if you remember but that bumper cover was peeling all over the place when I bought the car. I'm hoping it not the coating underneath all the materials that's peeling. I don't think it is but time will tell. I prepped the :poo: out of that bumper when I prepped it last year. I touched it up and hoping that it'll hold up. Really don't want to pull that bumper off again and redo it.

I'm going to pull out the brand new isolators here pretty quick and see what that looks like. I've cut springs in cars before, but that's when I was younger. I know that's not ideal, or the right way to do it but...…...

The Monster has all kinds of chips on him ( mostly because I’m a clod). I just dont see a way to keep it from happening if the car is driven. Even more so if it’s daily.

Well, our business is still considered essential. (Collision industry.) I've been taking advantage of the light traffic, so driving the Mustang lately has been fun. Im not too worried about it. Like you said, its not a garage queen or a trailer queen. Crappy thing is there isn't a radio in my car.
