Question: Is there any issue with just goign to my performance store SECO, buying 2 flowmaster mufflers for a 'stang, get them welded on liek I did on my older stang and keeping stock hpipe with stock cats... Besides the fact it's a ghetto made catback? How does it sound with flows and stock pipes? I have always had o/r pipes but I didnt want to do that this time and I havent saved up enough $$$ to buy a high-flow Cat X-pipe yet, I think there like $400.

Thanks for any help....

P.S Anyone want to recommend a good CAI that actually cools air more than heating it up?( like the metal chrom ones?)

I am the second owner of my stang, but the owner before me welded in the flows with a stock H pipe. I think it sounds real good. Nice deep rumble. Like mentioned, its louder than stock, but not crazy loud. Perfect for me.

Can get a little annoying if the RPM's stay around 2000-2500 for a long period of time.

Ahh, good ole drone.

If you have a 96 and I think you do I wouldnt say it sounds good with the stock H. I have a 97 with 6 cats I think that is why it sounded like garbage when I have to put the stock H back on for inspection time with my flows. Yours might sound a little better because I have dumps but I would just get a H or X they are not that much.

Ill sell you mine BBK o/r h but one of the clamps in the rear hit while crossing a bridge now it doesnt seal that great.

The flows sound nice on my 99, if you can live with the 2000rpm drone.
The chrome CAI will cool off almost instantly once air is flowing through it.

A lot of people complain about Flowmasters droning. Just goto www.mustangexhaust and listdn to some different clips. If you want some good HP gains, a midpipe is a must. I would just save your money.

CAI's are pretty worthless no matter what people tell you. Just drop in a K&N filter and call it a day. I wish I hadn't bought my CAI cause now I plan to replace the piping with a S/C :D

I purposely drive at 2000RPM just to hear them drone. I wish they would drone more!

My Flowmaster cat-back is plenty loud. You can hear me coming from down the street with the stock mid-pipe. I always get complements and when i ride out 1st gear to 4500RPM and let the engine compression slow the car down, it sounds badass!

I thought I was one of the only dummies who does that whereas others complain about the drone.

I've dreamed of having a stang with flows since I first heard one back in the 5.0 era.

When I bought my new 03 GT I drove it straight to my muffler shop and had them weld in 2 flowsmasters. I had it like that for almost 3 yrs. I did get a lot of compliments on it. I even had a few LS1's give me a thumbs up and ask what kind of exhaust system I had.:nice: I thought it sounded good. The only reason I changed it was because I got a good deal on some long tube headers and decided to do the full exhaust w/x pipe and I used the same 2 flowmasters with the new set-up. Scot
