Ok, I just put on the flowmaster american thunder catback syatem on my car (01 Gt), and I'm not campletely pleased with it. It has a good idle and sounds good under hard acceleration, but on the highway I can't stand it! It's not the fact that it is loud but it it sounds like a darn bumble bee going down the road.
What is all of you guys opinions on this, Is it the mufflers, the H-pipe or what. What are you guys running?

LT+O/R H-pipe+American Thunder Flows= teh win!!
I get a lot of compliments and the setup gives you a musclecar sound. Also the deep tone can be heard from far away. I like the drone, it is a good loud to me.

I like either exhaust setup...

X pipe with straight through mufflers = awesome exotic sound, makes people wonder what is making the noise.

H pipe with chambered mufflers = Old muscle car era sound, everyone knows that your cruising around in Detroit Iron.

As far as mixing it up...

X pipe with chambered mufflers = Either good or bad. It depends on if you like alot of rhasp or almost rattle. Alot also depends on the brand X pipe (stamped, or true X) and the muffler itself.

H pipe with straight through mufflers = Kind of reminds me of a truck with glasspacks. Thats not bad, but not as extreme as the above combo's.

I love the drone. I get upset if i am driving and i can't park the tach needle at 2K RPM's to hear all that wonderful drone.

I'm dead serious. I wish they droned more!

Having driven alongside my car on the highway in another car, it sounds awesome from the outside. I have Flowmaster American Thunder cat-backs on both my cars. No regrets
