Pulled the flywheel today (66 289 with 70 boss 302 toploader tranny)to examine rear main and it has a few hot spots in it. Past experience tells me that machine shop has to cut very deep (080") to get below most of these. Are these plentiful for early ford cars (used) and if so what is the average asking price.

Too Bad you can't use a late model 157 toothed version, they are a 100 bucks for New ones(That's from ford)

You could probably find 164 toothed NONE SFI rated fairly cost effective. As the SFI ones are going for 300ish!

good Luck!

New flywheels are available from many sources. Yours is likely a 157 tooth 28 oz/in balance. Bad thing about resurfacing them is you end up with not enough clutch rod adjustment, especially when dealing with a rebuilt pressure plate. I don't recommend buying used flywheels for this reason. You have no way of knowing how much or how many times a flywheel's been resurfaced. Some had a shallow drilled hole that disappeared when the wheel was resurfaced too much.

Many BOSS 302s, GT, trucks and others came with 164 Toothed 28 Oz Flywheels, double check yours. (Our 68 302 GT 4 spd toploader, has 164 tooth flywheel), and our (65 GT has 164 tooth) all factory original cars.

Center force has a listing for both
