Ford GT motor: $45K for 550hp seems overpriced

Did anyone happen to see the Hot Rod article last spring about the GT motor. Its online at

http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/engine/113_0311_gt/index.html

After reading it it seems hard to believe that any of the motors that could be built for half the price could take that abuse and have a warranty. Running at WOT for 150 hrs?! That must be insane to watch. You could have lots of power for less than 45K, but the designing in this motor is awesome! Its a serious race motor that probably has great street manners, compared to a carbed motor with even a blower. Maybe its too much to spend, but somehow they have to pay for the costs. Check it out!

Warantee? Since when did Ford Racing warantee their crate motors ? I've got a 2002 catalog and the first thing in there is a big "No Warantee" statement on the inside of the front cover.
From the listing:
Special Notes: Engines are all hand-built to Ford specifications at the Ford Romeo Engine plant. No modifications available. Factory 12 month/12000 mile warranty is included.
