I'd go for a '91-'93 GT 5 speed...I think the earlier wheels were butt ugly, and I think the non-airbag wheel was ugly too. Sure you get hypereutectic pistons in '93, but who cares...nobody should be putting a blower on a stock 20 year old motor anyway. That said I'd still take a '91-'92 over a '93 just because, but if a clean '93 came around I'd scoop it up. I think '92 was a low production year though.

All that said though, in high school my buddy and I found him a clean '87 hatch AOD for $1500 and scooped it up and it was a lot of fun, AOD aside.

I don't care for notches, like the other guy said they are the cool car to own on the internet but in real life they are about as ugly and plain and the utter definition of '80s box IMO and it's not like a hatch/GT weighs so ungodly much more than a notch anyway. Sure the notch is the fastest, but all 5.0s are fast or will be when you are done with them so unless you are looking to run 9s or 8s, who cares.

Damn news to me, i guess i should just drop 2k on a rotating assembly for a stock block.

Factory forged pistons and stock rods will easily outlast the block, not so much with the hypertoocrackits.

I love the non-airbag wheel. I drove a friends 1990 LX and just felt weird with that steering whel in front of me.:eyebrow:

even better than non-airbag... is that it's a tilt wheel.

Suit yourself, but I sure wouldn't put a blower on a 100k+ mile engine of any kind, but that's just me. Then again, I'm not interested in making junk go fast. If I'm going to build a blown motor, I'm going to spend the money to build a motor around the blower.

Who said it would be on an untouched engine? A rering and hone is a whole lot cheaper then a built engine. Someone tell Nik his motor is crap too...

I'll be happier then pig in **** with my "junk" engine. But hey, thats just me.

Kinda pointless to tear a motor all the way down to the bare block just to hone it and re ring just to put it back together with all the original worn parts, but that's just me again...that's almost more retarded than putting the blower on the untouched 20 year old motor. WTF is the point of tearing a motor all the way down just to re ring it when stock rebuild kits for 302s are cheaper than dirt?

Anyway do things your way, and I'll do things my way. I wouldn't bow out my fenders with generic hardware from Home Depot either, but that's where you and I differ so it is what it is.

Wow, you better tell MM that cause last i checked they have a similar set up on their race car, as were the many members of corner carvers. And mine isnt generic **** from home depot either. I guess we differ cause I actually built my car, tell me other ways to fit 275's up front.

But go ahead and stuff a 2k rotating assembly in a stock block. Those forged rods and pistons will do a whole lot for longevity i guess the countless other member who are running stock internals to 500rwhp are wrong too? ****, i knew i should have slapped a ysi on my stock block 331, oh hai jeff

You have a chip on your shoulder or what?

A hone, re-ring, and re-bearing has been standard practice for backyard hot rodders for more than 60 years. Providing the engine wasn't damaged in the first place and bore wear wasn't terrible, after a re-ring and re-bearing, the engine will be practically new again.

I think you need to take it easy man, it almost looks like you're trolling for an argument.

Well ****! I just turned 100k, AND 20 years old on my stock block. Only putting about 450-460 rwhp down cause I detuned it. Then again, that was about 7 years ago I put the blower on the stock car. Wish I would have gotten the Mission Impossible memo that my engine was going to self destruct after my years upon years upon years upon years....(I think you get the idea) of boost and redlining it.

If you guys need me, i am just going to be PM'ing the several thousand members here, at the corral, local stang websites and my bmw sites that have turbo and superchargers on their stock blocks and tell them they are probably doing it wrong. Maybe. Possibly.

Then I am going to buy stock in every aftermarket engine and internal part manufacturer because IMMA GET RIIIIIIIICH from stupidity.

Oh and lastly, I should call vortech, ati, kenne belle, tork tech, whipple, helion, and even power master and tell them all that they need to quit supplying information to people who are mounting these to stock blocks because they are just helping to create ticking time bombs... or is that counterintuitive for my get rich quick scheme???

LOL you guys are the ones with the chips on your shoulders.

I'd rebuild any motor before putting a blower on it, stop getting sand in your pussies about it. If you don't want to, I couldn't care less.

I think a lot of you missed the point where I said I'd rebuild the motor with a stock rebuild kit.

No no no, lets continue with the all new parts thing. When you break your transmission lets just buy a new gforce, cause all your parts are worn out and worthless. Same goes for those worn out synchros in your tko600. **** just buy a whole new car when you break something.

And what constitutes a "rebuild" ? New pistons? New crank? New rods? New block? Why use that old dart block again, its junk, the manley rods, crap.

Ron, (the driver of the castrol challenge sn-cobra) has 100k on his stock bottom end with forged pistons at 477rwhp. Guess he's doing it wrong, I mean they only chose his car for the magazine competition.

Depends on what you can do by yourself (engine work, body, paint, etc) and how much cashola you have after the purchase.

Personally I would try to find a decent car that's not hot rodded to death. Something that's got a solid body and undercarriage. Finding original cars are becoming very hard to find (especially in your price range). But they are out there. I recently just found one w/ just a CAI on it! Other than that it's completely stock. Even has the 4 catalytic converters on it haha!

Good luck on your hunt! That's the fun part (at least for me)
