I think I' going to do this with my car. I picked up ported (and polished upper) typhoon intakes with polished 70mm tb for 330. It has the egr delete plate so I'm going to leave the egr deleted. My question is with the throttle cable. I have an automatic, but all I find are the manual throttle cables or it doesn't say which it is. Are there any differences and can I just use the manual one ? And does anyone have any tips with removing/unhooking the egr ?

Hey. I believe the cables are the same. They all go from the pedal to the t.b. as for the egr I have everything removed block off the ports on the back of the heads they sell plates for that. if you have stock exhaust manifolds or headers with the bung for the egr tube just install a plug. then there is a solenoid you can buy on ebay that plugs into the wiring harness. then you just have to reset the computer. the sensor sends a single that tells the comp. the egr is operating normally. also depending on your valve covers you may need a phenolic intake spacer so you don't have a problem with clearance for the throttle cable bracket. then don't forget to switch your cai

Tell me again, what does this swap really accomplish? I just don't see any upside advantages here.

I have looked at every thread I have been able to find on this topic

For NA apps ... I've never been able to find one with PROVEN gains :(
I'm talking HARD DATA :)

You see alot of talk about 2 main topics from those who switched

1 throttle response
2 cosmetic looks

#1 From all I've seen, I think what difference peeps feel is how the tb blade
is opened on the fox setup. It is a direct 1 to 1 opening. The tb on the SN
setup is controled by a cam that opens the tb on a gradual basis

#2 simply a subjective kinda thing IMHO

Now ... When talking forced induction :D

I've seen several say they picked up gains and had charts to prove it

Just my findings and 2 cents :)

Throttle response is much improved. I had a surging problem before Fox TB swap, disappeared after. Made insane power on my old 95 with an S trim strapped on, not sure if the TB had anything to do with it, but 425 hp on a stock long block was pretty impressive.

Reasons to swap:

Cheaper throttle bodies and many more options as far as manufacturer, size, etc.
Crisper throttle response
Unclutter your engine bay a bit
Not have to buy the ugly elbow which further adds to the cost of the overpriced t-body
Seems to fix surging idle problems these cars seem to be plagued with
Parts to do the swap can be easily obtained from a scrap yard at minimal cost

There is a thread on this forum that has the best write up on the swap ever written. Do a search and you'll find it.

One dyno session I swapped to a GT40 tubular intake to see the gains and when done, I swapped out my 65 to a 75 Accu on the spot and gained a whooping 2 ponies with no other change....:D
I been running the Fox swap forever myself..was one of the first round here to do it and wouldn't go back....just prefer it.

Not trying to start an argument with ya Andy, I'm just curious how the rest of the dyno runs looked. Like what did the curves look like and such. We all know by now that max HP isn't what we're after. Just ask any WRX owner with "300 hp" who has been embarrassed by my little 200 hp 302.

Its all good Bro... :nice:

I'd have to hunt for the graphs... I just brought the 75 to see the dif and I knew it was a 15 minute swap on the dyno...Think I lost TQ but gained a few ponies...That wasnt on this 331 though.

Does doing the fox swap still allow you to run an aftermarket strut tower brace?

From what I've noticed over the many years, like said above, the '94/5 throttle bodies have a differently sloped cam the cable attaches to making the throttle not as touchy and easier to drive at slow speeds.

As for any hp gains, the only ones I've seen or heard of that gained a few was due to not having that ugly angled adapter elbow between the TB and intake. Find comparisons between going from a stock '94/5 intake to a stock fox intake or a '94/5 cobra intake to a fox cobra intake. There will be no gains. The built in elbow on the '94/5 intake is a smooth curve and not a tightly angled turn like the adapter elbows are.
