OK. I've searched all of the FR500 post and gained a wealth of information. I have kind of a messed up situation with mine right now, but I'll get to that in a minute.
My queston to the experts is...Do the Cruizin Concepts 18x9 36mm offset- 18x10 45mm offset wheels fit the car better or look better than the American Muscle 18x9 30mm - 18x10 40mm set-up?
Not knowing if I really wanted FR500's I went the cheap route and bought some used stuff and ended up with something I don't really need, but it did give me a chance to check the different offsets, unfortunately without tires, on my 05'.
The first pair I bought were supposed to be 18x9 30mm's, they ended up being 24mm offset for an sn95. By my measuring and calcualtions they would actually have very close to the same amount of wheel towards the outside as a 10" 40mm. When I put one on the car it sets out pretty far, which leads me to believe the 36/45 mm set-up would fit better on the S-197.
The other good thing that came out of my "cheap" excursion was how I found out there were two different offsets available. I purchased another single 18X9 from American Muscle through a cosmetic blemish E-Bay auction. When it came it was a 36mm wheel, which I had not heard of at that point. American wasn't any help, they said they don't have 36mm wheels and their E-Bay department is seperate from their other business. Of course, no response from the E-Bay side of it. It is really a funny deal because it is definetly not a Wheel Replicas 36mm wheel, but supposedly the other manufacturer that American uses doesn't have such a thing, so who knows where it came from or what it is.
Bottom line. Lesson learned...I know the FR500's look good on it and that's what I want. Just need help with the best offset or any insight into the two different manufacturers.
Sorry for the lengthy post, any help would be appreciated.
Mark
