hello all,
I need some information on possible damage done to my car. The back story: My wife and I got a 05 GT five speed last December. For those who aren't aware, the new GT's have a recall on their fuel tanks and CD players. Anyhow, last week I take the car in to have the gas tank swapped and have my wife pick up the car once the swap was complete. When I got home and saw the car I freaked out........my exhaust system was mounted waaaaaaaayyyyyyy crooked.........like the passenger side tip was protruding an extra 1 1/4 inch further than the drivers side. Also, their was a loud grinding noise coming from the rear (Sounded like a bad wheel bearing) and the tranny had gotten noticably louder. My best preliminary guess on the noise was that the driveshaft had been removed and re-installed wrong. So I take the car back to Galpin yesterday to get fixed AGAIN..........and they swore up and down that they had not removed the driveshaft. They kept the car overnight and called my back today...........and sure enough, they finally fessed up to removing the driveshaft and installing it wrong.
Almost done guys, I promise........just needed to vent!!!
My question is: How much damage to the tranny/gears do you guys think was done? The car was probably driven a hundred miles or so with the aforementioned problems. Sorry for the long ramble everyone....
On the plus side, they gave me a spankin' new (Less than 4 miles) GT auto as a loaner! The auto transmissions have come a long way in the last 10 years!
