I speak Farsi and I am a Persian Farsi linguist and interpreter in the Army, and I can safely say that while their gasoline prices in Iran are significantly lower than ours, they are not $.03/gal - Perhaps in the scarcest regions of Iran such as found in Esfahan, Shiraz and Mashhad. Gasoline prices last reported in metropolitan areas by means of a contact in Tehran, and in Ahvaz, and Bandar-Abbas, all metro areas, gasoline ranges between 22 cents a gallon and 88 cents a gallon. Dunno who is propagating this "3 cents a gal" nonsense, the media or whatever...
But it's true, what the poster above said... If you can even FIND a Craftsman wrench or a Chevy Cavalier (and not one of the god awful Peysahk or Peugot cars they have there) it'll be exorbitantly expensive. Durable goods are incredibly expensive in Iran and truly the rate of poverty is unbelievable in most regions of the country. But I could go on for days since my field of study is Iran and Afghanistan. Anyway...
Can't speak about Venezuela.
by the way, there are a lot of hotties in Iran, just most of them are wearing chador or jebhaht in public.
