Progress Thread Goofy fuel gauge on slow progress

My stang has only seen snow once since we been together,and driving home from work the sludged over windshield wipers had a hard time working.Just as I got off the parkway they have up the ghost totalling stopped working.

Normally it has an indoor stall, on site or off site. There was no room at the inn this week, without a mile walk to the parking spot. And yes, it would have been up hill both ways, on ice in the blizzard. And I left the car cover off site, DOH!
The good news is it started up at least as well (if not better) in the cold than it does a cold start in nicer weather. It ran smoothly sooner when it was dang cold out, I need to check the connections for the air and coolant temps, and replace them since I have them. I don’t usually just replace parts, but the thermostat value chart does not go that low, and they were not expensive.

Yes. It has been, reliable, comfortable, and a dang good car. Figuring out what to replace the wife’s vehicle with something that will be as good of vehicle is why I have another thread about that problem. My “Fun Size” (short) wife and daughter can move the seats, pedals and steering wheel to drive it, but that does not mean the La-z-boy driver’s seat fits them or they can see over the seat back well.

I can never part with mine. It feels like driving on a cloud. The Ultimate Edition is a Beast and sadly, I ponder selling the Vert before the GM.

Any suggestions on where I can get an interior panel and what service is the best bet for getting it shipped in one piece?
The right hatch panel that goes over the wheel well and back is cracked. It does not show since it is under the carpet line but it bugs me. The interior is (mostly) 91 Titanium.
Web links or phone #s of likely sources are appreciated.
I plan on using panel nuts to keep the screws for plastic and metal interior pieces tight, and want to replace the broken piece while I am doing it and running wires for the compact sub.

Four or so years ago, I bought a cargo shade from a specialist, and the postal service broke the roll up shaft. I did not find out until I went to install it and had tossed the box and info to file a claim. DOH!
I do not have the seller’s eBay or business name to see what he has on hand.

I have done business with MPS Auto Salvage, and they are good to work with. They are local to me, so whenever I need something I drive over to pick it up. They have a huge warehouse of parts, and recommend that you call them about parts then using there website.

If ordering from CJ Pony call and make sure the part is actually in stock. I don't like dealing with them anymore but if I have to I'd call first.

LMR is first on the list...CJ is last.

I am going to post the other big reason for not much progress. Yes, it’s been colder outside the house than in the chest freezer, and I have no desire to get near pavement I might get frozen to. But my first car has been finally getting attention! Warning, stripped car pictures, NSFW.

I am removing the paint with a checkbook. It may be lame, but I want it done. I’ve been collecting and lining up the rest of the parts for the reassembly. The good news is there has been no surprise rust or damage, and the stuff that has been uncovered is better than expected.
After this is back on the road, I will be ready to dig into my Mustang plans. Until then, I do not want it too far from drivable.

I plan on keeping the quad shocks with the new control arms, needed or not. Does installing m them “backwards” gain tire clearance, and at what cost or hassle? (The mounting ends look like they are the same.)
And which end, rod or tube, does that means goes to the body? My other Fox chassis cars have not had these dunsels to wear out. I am guessing the tube part up to the body is correct, but pictures on here and Duck Duck are split.

That thought crossed my mind after I posted the question. But I’d rather catch heck than put a part on wrong and have to reinstall it. You can say which end was attached to the axle at the factory if that allows a safer answer.
Generally, the oil filled end goes up and is the more stationary end. But generally, only one shock per axle end is used.

The big end attaches to the body and the shaft attaches to the rearend housing for stock applications
In reality I think it does not matter, flipped just gives more tire clearence

Nickyb, I just realized I have not taken a rear tire off this car yet. I am befuddled by that. I have swapped the driveshaft and checked out bushings, and have worked on the rest of the car both inside and out. But the only tire rotating I have done myself has been in the first three gears. I have had no flats and not enough miles to do the brakes yet. And with health challenges the last ten years, I have been using oil change and service coupons.
