Okay I used CalEdit 1.20, and was able to datalog some stuff, just sitting in the garage idling. I noticed that my O2 sensors were reading up to 1.7volts under throttle, and just sitting there idling they would jump up to 0.9volts. That CAN'T be right. I thought they were supposed to read 0.45 volts or so.

Also, my injectors were reading 1.4 or so at idle, and up to 13 under throttle. How do I interpret this? I know injectors are supposed to run at 85% duty cycle for optimum performance, is 1.4 actually 140%?

I'm thinking about turning off my O2's and seeing if it runs better from not reading them. Looks like I'm finally making some progress!

Okay I just made my day. My vacuum harness for my smog/egr lines had fallen against a header a while back, and had melted through those lines. I thought I had gotten all of those lines capped well enough, but upon further inspection, the line running to my intake manifold had melted all the way through, and had also come unplugged from the harness itself. The other two lines also had holes in the middle of the lines inside the loom. So I took those lines off, capped them at the connector, and replaced the intake line, and it runs a LOT better. It idles a lot better, has a TON more power (not as much as it should still, but it's progress) and doesn't smell near as rich anymore. I just gotta replace my seals now, and readjust that rocker, and hopefully the rest can be done with tuning.

I'm gonna talk about your post #3 in this thread first.

I see that you had some stuff that was not like it should be and found it AND most important of all ....... corrected that stuff. IMHO, all kinds of stuff like that needs to be in correct working order or your tuning efforts will not be nearly as effective as they should be.

First things first!

If you are gonna use the older 1.20 software make sure everything is all V1.20 like ccf files, datalog files, and the same basic file loaded on all 4 switch opsitions. I have avoided 1.30 all toghther so I have no experience with it other than looking at a few datalog files Barney sent me. I can say for sure that V1.20 dlog files have a dbf file ext and V1.30 have a db file ext. Again, like I talked about in another thread of yours, I think you can have probs switching back and forth between different versions of software. Maybe Rick or Dave or John or Barney or some of the other Tweecer users can fill in the blanks but, ...... strive to get started with a clean slate as they say.

At this point I would not worry about all that kind of stuff. If they are switchng back and forth with good activity then consider them good.

Also, my injectors were reading 1.4 or so at idle, and up to 13 under throttle.

I assume your talking about 1.4 pulse width values and that is would not be uncommon for your current state of tune.

How do I interpret this? I know injectors are supposed to run at 85% duty cycle for optimum performance, is 1.4 actually 140%?

More stuff that at this time that IMHO should be put on the back burner. You got 30's ...... plenty of inj so no worries.

Honestly, Chris ...... I know you are excited about your new combo and all but your not gonna get everything all dialed in by tomorrow night. It is gonna take a while and your focus should be on:
1) obtaining a decent idle
2) obtaining decent closed loop driving conditions
3) tuning for max power

I'm thinking about turning off my O2's and seeing if it runs better from not reading them.

My opinion about that is ...... I can't stress enough how strongly I think you should not do that. To tune your car to operate off the tables alone is a very advanced kind of tuning thing. You need a wide band to do it and I don't think you have one at this time anyway. Just don't do that.

Looks like I'm finally making some progress!

I agree

A few thoughts about the three goals above to get you started.

1) Look at the throttle body airflow scalar and isc nuetral idle air flow function. See EEC Analyzer notes for help as each combo is different.
Load in the offsets for your 30's
Low slope at 33-36
High slope at 30

See if that gives you a better idle

2) Use your kamrf's to give a more stable closed loop driving condition. Again use EEC Analyzer's excellent help notes for details. This can take some time but can yield great resusts.

If after some time you don't seem to think you are making much progress, I would just blow off the GT t4m0 file all together and move over to the Cobra j4j1.

3) Again, 1 & 2 is way more important than max power but knowing your chomping at the bit for more power I'd do stuff like kill the tip in retard, high speed fuel enrichment, and the like.
Don't be hosin around with the fuel tables until you get your wide band.

That ought to keep you busy for a while

I know you addressed me in your thread title but ...............

some of you other Tweecer users feel free to throw in your two cents worth as well. If you think I missed something or maybe think I'm leading Chris down the wrong path speak up as I'll be the first to say I have not learned it all for sure.

Have Fun Chris

Chris, it's too bad that when you ask Grady for help, he posts lame little one-liners with no info.

J/K - I did not understand half of your post Grady, but it was thorough and thoughtful, all three screens worth!

I know it! Maybe we should ban him for posting which he obviously doesn't know anything about! J/K Grady! You should be renamed twEECer King or something like that. Mods can we get this gentleman a CT?

I see you referred me back here in my newest thread about surging idle. Looks like since I fudged around with the fuel pressure, stop screw, tps and all that I gotta start over.

I also loosened the ISC screw, I was told this gives more idle control to the computer. Can you or somebody explain how the ISC valve and screw works?

Thanks again!! And just so everyone knows JT and I are just yanking Grady's chain, he really knows his chit about the twEECer, tuning, and pretty much everything else!

Chris............Chris................Chris...................

I keep giving you info to answer your Q's but you keep coming back to the site and from the looks of what you say.............
ya ain't readin the info.

I'm kinda sorta starting to suspect your looking for someone to spoon feed you this stuff

Remember those EEC Analyzer help files I told you about .................
Become good friends with them as there is lots of good info in them.

Thank you for your kind words about my Tweecer experience but I keep trying to show you where I got what I have found from my experience. The sites and peeps I keep telling all of you about................

Those are the Tweecer Gurus!

Killeen You Say....................................

I guess I'm gonna have to talk to you like a Texas Boy

You tore apart your car, put on h/c/i, and put it back together and I think things turned out pretty good for a rookie.

Having said that..................................

Quit Craw Daddin around with this tuning stuff and apply the same mind set to it as you did with your h/c/i project.

I ain't gonna drive down there and tune it for you!

You can do it Just get after it

Now.............Who is jerkin Who's Chain

Let us know how things go

Watcha Think JT? Am I being too hard on the boy?

Grady, I'm reading your info, but maybe this stuff is just a lot harder for me to understand than I had anticipated. I can't even find the EEC Analyzer help notes or files you were speaking of. I have EEC Analyzer (unregistered) but I don't know what notes you're talking about.

Anyway, I don't have anymore time tonight to work on the stang (gotta take my dad's truck and pick up my parents from the airport) but here's tomorrow's game plan:

1) Set stop screw on throttle body
2) Set TPS to .99volts
3) Set ISC screw (although I don't know if i should open the valve or close it)
4) Start with a fresh tune file in twEECer
5) Load injector slopes, maf transfer, and idle speeds.
6) Look at throttle body airflow scalar and isc nuetral idle air flow function, although I don't know what I'm looking for, since I can't find those notes or help files or whatever.

This stuff is damn confusing to me now (I always knew I hated computers )

Just to let you know, I absolutely do NOT want to be spoon fed this information, I don't like when people just want answers without even trying to know why the answer is the answer...... make sense? I just am very confused because it seems like my car is getting worse and worse with everything I am doing. Time to start over I guess.

Can you see the symbols that look like tiny bricks? Try to click on those and see if the help notes pop up.

Remember when I told you if you don't get some pretty noticable improvments from the Tweecing of the t4m0, move over to the j4j1. Just keep that in mind.

No worries from my end cause I don't mind trying to help you or any of the other guys on this site. I just could not resist having a little fun with your post. Again, you try and that means a lot to me and I'm sure to all of the other guys here

am very confused because it seems like my car is getting worse and worse with everything I am doing. Time to start over I guess.

It is all good

When you do a major project like you did it really does take some time to work out all of the bugs. Considering your trying to learn how to self tune you gotta give yourself some time and try not to get frustrated.

Try some of that stuff I suggested and let us know how things turn out.
