Well I went with some Nitto DR's. Got them Friday and went to the track that night. I went a [email protected] and short shifted 1st to 2nd at 4k and had a 2.14 60ft time. Almost picked up 4/10s and 1mph with just tires. The 2nd run I did a good burnout and launched it on the floor and it didn't hook. 2.30s 60ft and went [email protected]. So I am going to try again on Thursday and see what happens. I am pretty happy just need some practice.

Shifting at 4k will kill your ET.

With the PI swap let it run to 5800 or so, it will definatly help.

Warm those tires up good and launch a little easier and the 60' will drop and youll be into the 8's.

Yeah I don't know why I shifted early. I guess I just go a little trigger happy. Then I figured I would see how good the tires were on the second run. I would like to see 80mph is that possible?

80mph should be attainable no problem.

Ive heard mixed results about Nitto's though. Many people say they are great on the street, suck on the track. Others say they are good at both... some say they need one good burnout to break in before they hook.

If you get the launch down and can pull a 1.9 60' you should see an upper 8 second pass easy, and 80mph. Just my opinion.

What track did you go to?

awesome man! Glad to hear you picked up some time!!

What PSI are you running? Id run them at around 13-14psi and make sure you heat them up real good. Nittos need a good warm up. Some practice and cool air, and you got a 8.5-8.60 car! IM not sure what your DA was, but your car is trapping right where my car does in good air and slightly less weight in the early spring. Ill bet that you trap around 80-81mph in good air, which is right where it shoud be

Keep us updated, and again, congrats!

I didn't mess with the pressure in the tires. Just run them at whatever the tire shop put them at. I guess 30-35psi. I wasn't worried about what they were at I was just running it. But this Thursday I'll try a couple of different things. Lower the tire pressure and remove the front swaybar, and get some more practice at driving.

Good times.

I did the same thing you did with the tires and it was night and day like you said. I got my tires at the same psi from the shop, but a guy at the track helped me with some advice to get that psi down and it was a big difference too. I'm a noob at the track but learning everytime(racing in jackson,SC), but I think you can kick it down some. I brought a friend and a small air compressor to the track with me to pump 'em back up to head to the house.

My main track has been Darlington or 710 just over the NC border, closest we have on the coast except for North Myrtle Beach which just opened back up...:D

Sounds like you got the right ideas picked out for next time.
