What does it take for our cars to keep up with the modular 4.6 cobra?
My buddy just bought a 96 cobra so I had to see what it had in it, so coming back from town today we decided to test the two cars, mine and his cobra. My car is a 95 gt stock except for exhaust, cai. His is bonestock. From a 10 mph role my car would get the lead from 1st through 2nd and then his starts pulling like a freaking train and blows pass me. What would I need to atleast keep up with him because he likes to brag way to much.

CAI, Full Exhaust,3.73 gears, U/D Pullies, and Upper and lower intake were enough for me to take down my friends 98 Cobra(conv.)

If you add 3.73s and an Intake Manifold preferably Edel, or Trick Flow and you will take him.

It's going to take more then gears and an intake to take a 4 valve. A blower or h/i can do it (geared properly & supporting mods)).

well with CAI, TB, Cobra Intake, full exhaust, and gears I hung even with my friends 97 cobra with CAI and catback up until ~90mph, where he pulled 1 car length on me.

I finally got my car up and running again now with ported E7s, steeda 19, ud pullies, MAF, and injectors, and I can let you know how it goes with those added on after the next time I see him.

How about at the track? Any real numbers? Street racing (though I admit to like watching it) doesn't count for real.

Remember, a Cobra already has an HCI for all intensive purposes. To keep up with one, you're going to need the equivalent or a power adder.

Go from a dig and you'll have a much better chance. To pull on him on the expressway you'll need at least 250rwhp, so like ALL the boltons.

Those of you taking them with very minor bolt-ons, I think you're winning out on the driver portion of things. All conditions being equal, it'd take more than just a few bolt ons to even hang with one.

tis true, a h/c/i 5.0 can still be very easily rocked by one that has gears/boltons. don't understimate the 4v.

Does it take more than a couple bolt ons to run 14.40s. Go to a site where they post. MOst of them run 14.0-14.5 @ 99-101. They arent really that fast. I have known a lot of people with them including my room mate having a 98. With Intake, Tbody, X, Catback, 4.10s, and DRs he went like 13.38 thats not really gonna easily beat my 12.90 running H/C/I GT.

for most of us guys that usually hit up the occasional highway jaunt then its more about mph than trap speed. 100mph stock is tough to beat from a roll, and what was the mph on those 13.38/12.90 runs.

don't get me wrong my h/c/i runs strong, but i have been rectally violated by a bolt-on Mach 1 from a 60 roll.

H/C/I are a bit more than simple bolt ons. Look at KillerCanary, he's way fast but not everyone could drive like him. I'm sure there are some 4v's out there with freak drivers that would stomp other average 96-98's.
