Stupid novice questions:

1. Will any gt40p heads fit on 94/95
2. What year explorer has the heads I'm looking for (any alterations needed when I do find them?)
3. What headers work with them beside LT?
4. Suggestions for Intake Manifolds (leaning toward 94/95 Cobra).
5. Cam suggestions (Want street applications and not strip)

They will fit a 94/95.
I think they were on 98 Explorers but I could be worng, I found mine at a local machine shop
I have hedman LT's on mine, on my friends GT with those heads we used his Mac shorties, had to dimple one of the tubes, can't remember which one it was though. Also flowtech shorties fit very well on those heads.
Trick Flow Stage 1, Comp 2031, or a Motorsports E cam.
Either the cobra like you mentioned or even a Edelbrock Performer, or TFS Street Heat.

Good reply..

Just to add though, Ford Racing makes 'P' headers for the 94/95 now.

You can also buy P specific headers from MAC and BBK so all those headaches can be avoided.

1. Yes they fit... I currently run them...
2. Not sure, but If I'm correct it was after 97.. the pre 98 came with regular GT40s if I'm not mistaken.
3. I currently have the MAC P specific shorties, and they fit nicely
4. I'm running the Cobra intake... nice intake, but their are better out there..
5. I'm running a crane 2031, but I'm also running a custom Autologic chip which helped with the idle, and got rid of the stalling... Plus it made the cam pass CA emissions nicely...

I'm currently making 255rwhp/300tq with Pheads, crane cam, and all the bolt ons with shorties through bbk hpipe w cats.... plus an out of date dynotune... I'm installing longtubes, dr gas pipe, and bassani mufflers in a couple weeks, and I'm aiming for 275-285rwhp/ 310tq NA.. and 350rwhp/400 tq on the bottle with a new tune...

Hope I reach my goals...

BTW.. I should have the GT40P specific headers forsale in a few weeks...

DOH, they do offer those headers through motorsports now, I totally forgot about those. I didn't have any headaches at all installing mine, there is just one tube on the drivers side where getting the plug wire on is a little hard, but nothing major.

Anybody get there GT40p's off an Explorer? Is it a smooth fit onto a mustang? Rather not have to adapt anything. Also what is the difference between the GT40 on pre 97 Explorers and the P's on later models?

the P heads are basically all the same they fit very well mine happen to come off an explorer. I used the FRPP P headers shorties they fit extremelly well better than the macs actually. And mine are milled about .020 as well. good luck! I also run the cobra intake you speak of as well! I am listed with all my mods in the beginning of this board wih all the different combos. Check it out mine is the only nat. asp. listed for P heads.

Stupid question-- but what is the main difference between the regular 40 heads and the 40P's. Are the P's the aluminum ones and the regulars are cast or what.. I know I have regulars on my car and they are iron, but I didnt know if the P's were that much better.. like I said, stupid question..
Thanks

the p heads are cast but they make more power because they have different size valves they flow alot better and they usually as a bolt on add about 25 RWHP. There are never stupid questions bro.
