I've been reading a lot of posts on the GT40P heads and clearance issues with the headers. Sounds like some are ok, some are not. Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with using FRPP Shortie Headers with the GT40P heads?

Thanks.

Barney

if i'm not mistaken, the only two companies that offer headers exclusively for the gt40P's are MAC and FRPP.

you're right--some have pulled off using other headers w/out a problem..

i myself did not want to mess w/ it, so i forked over for some MAC p-spec shorties.

hope that helps.

I think the biggest issue with the 'P' heads and non-P headers is the angle of the spark plugs.

If memory serves me correctly, you either need P-specific headers or you need to get some plug wires with special degree boots; 90* I believe:shrug:

I found the MAC ones for about $300. I'm just starting my search for either the GT40 or GT40P heads and lower cost is more important to me than the extra performance of the P heads. I was curious if there were any P head users that were able to use the FRPP shorties with spark plug boot mods or to know that it can't be done. Thanks.

I used the BBK shorties (not P specific) without an issue. They were around 150$ new (chrome). The only issue you run into is if you need to change the #7 spark plug. Its an easy work around, just cut down a spark plug socket (cheap and easy) and it comes right out. Cheap headers and a for sure fit.
