As I just bought a left over new 08, I didn't have all that much to choose from in silver and manual trans. So what I bought pretty much has everything I wanted but the 6 gauge pod that comes with interior ungrade package. (Can't believe a GT Premium doesn't come with all the gauges!!) Did some searches and found nothing on this. Is it feasible or possible to upgrade to the 6 gauge pod in place of my 4 gauge pod? Anybody do this? Cost? Any info on this appreciated!

I've never heard of a 6 gauge pod on the 2005-09 Mustang GT. I have an 07 GT and there's only 4. I think the V6 cars have only 2.

EDIT: If you count them as: Speedo, Tach, Battery, Fuel, Oil, Temp.....then that's 6. I was referring to the cluster of 4 between the tach/speedo.

Click here for a great right up on making the swap, including pricing and parts needed. Our service department just did one a few days ago for a customer. You need to order a new Instrument Cluster (VIN specific and mileage has to be verified by a shop to place order), and you'll need the 3-button cluster (info/select/reset).

Five Oh Brian, thank you very much!! Guess I'll need to do some serious reading with a thread of over 18 pages. At least it is doable, all depending on your dealership I guess. Anyway, thanks much for the link, its a treasure trove of info.

Apparently, the swap is very easy, as it should be considering Ford builds them both ways on the assembly line. When you order the instrument cluster, Ford charges a core charge that's a couple hundred $'s, but you get that back when you're done and turn in the old 4-guage cluster.

It's part of the Interior Upgrade Package whether you are talking V6 of GT.
I upgraded it on a 2005. No big deal. More expensive though than ordering it that way to begin with.

Just wanted to give the forum some positive feedback. I got in touch with Mr. Kevin Casey, the parts manager at Clevenger Ford in Porterville, Ca, and he is certainly the guru on this gauge upgrade issue (fron two to four). Did the first swap on his awesome GT500 some years ago and has been advising literally hundreds of folks all over the U.S. on this issue since. Really nice guy and knows his stuff. Anyway I was fortunate enough to live close to his dealership and he ordered the correct gauge package for me and switch and I had his service dept install them for me last week. Everything works perfectly (all gauges, message center and my color) and am really pleased with it all. I certainly recommend you get in touch with him if you are considering this upgrade. My 08 had the pigtail behind the dummy switch so it was almost plug and play. Here's his email address. Clevparts@aol.com He also sells lots of Steeda, Rousch and other Stang parts over the internet. While I was there, I also bought a Ford Racing front strut tower brace. Anyway, just wanted to put in a good word for him (no I get no discounts for this, just happy to pass on good stang info to a great group).

I'm in the process of doing this myself, too.

First, using a flat head, pull out the dummy 3-button cover to the left of the cig lighter plug. If you see a plug fitted onto the back of that dummy button cover, you are good to go.

Them you need the buttons that go there, and the gauge cluster.

The install itself is easy, but you will need to have a Ford dealer flash your computer so that it works. If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that without the ECU flash, the car won't even turn on.
