I purchased a transmission on ebay and when I recieved it today the casting number on it is not the same as what is stated in the auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8032167126

the number on the case is 13-52-065-921
I looked this up and it is out of:
"Ford 1984 Mustang/Capri 5.0 V8"

http://www.5speeds.com/t5/

does that mean that he would have needed to completely replace ever internal for this thing to comprable to a 94-95 t5?

Am I reading the right thing or Did I get ripped off?

the guy would have had to replace EVERYTHING in it to be a WC tranny. and the 94-95 have a longer input shaft. I think you got it at a reasonable price. I guess it doesn't matter if the casting #'s are different, as long as it has the wc parts in it you're good. I bought my WC t-5 off ebay too, but it was 650$ with shipping. I even broke it a week later, the guy paid for shipping back, fix it for free, and sent it back, never had a problem so far.

I read a little further on that site with the t5 identifier, i didn't read the part that says:

"The TAG id program requires the stamped number off of the tin metal tag bolted to the tail housing. No other numbers on the case, tail or cover are needed or will tell you anything."

I am probably freaking out over nothing, but there is no tag on the tranny, is there any other way to identify this thing?

Read the auction post again. It clearly says that the "internals" are from a 246 (WC T-5). Measure the length of the input shaft.

I realize that the input shaft is longer, but if you read the auction he say that is one of the things that is replaced in the rebuild. So if he took an older transmission and swap the input shaft it is still a non-WC transmission with a 94-95 input shaft.
