Help!!

Got a problem on the vert, I think. It's my 84 LX 5.0 vert.

It runs fine most of the time, but occasionally it will start blowing blue/black smoke out the pipes and start running rough. It won't want to idle, it surges. What could be wrong?? Rings?? Something else?

This just started within the last couple weeks.

does it happen mostly when you put your fut (err...foot) into it?

Usually starts after.

It's a stock 84 with CFI/auto

after you put your foot into it? sounds like valve seals or rings maybe. do a compression check, you're probably due for a rebuild.

Black smoke indicates an excessive fuel load; not sure what would be causing your problem though. What do your plugs look like?
