Heres a good one for you guys.

So Im going to be install a p600b procharger intercooled setup on my car within a couple months.

My question is that the owner told me it would make like 15psi with the current pulley.

The thing is I believe my car will have less restriction than his. Ive got long tubes, o/r h pipe along with 75mm tb/ plenum and pi intake.

I beleive he had a pi intake though.

You guys think I will see a lot less than 15 psi?

I think I want to keep the boost below 12...probably at about 10.

The headers alone will drop about 2psi atleat mine did and the other things prolly wont help as much MAYBE another psi but I don't even know about that.

All in all I would prolly pully down, 12psi is still alot to run on a stock bottomend. I always thougt they said 10psi IC/AC and 8 with out.

I know I only ran around 9 when I had my stock bottom end.

yea, I guess ill run the smaller pulley...hopefully its atleast 10psi

Uh, maybe you should re read the question.

Yes, boost does depeing on the pulley size, but that has nothing to do with my question.

If Im running a 15 PSI pulley would I get less than 15 psi becuase of the long tubes and bolt ons basically.

Whoa there MR. HardA$$ Everyone is trying to help here! don't get smart with people or I'll Open up a can of WhoopA$$ on you. :nono:

You do realize that just because you releave some restrictions and the actual boost numbers go down, that does not make it any more reliable right?

The point I am getting at is just because the boost number is lower, the airflow is the same and the cylinder pressures are the same. At most you've dropped the intake temps some.

run the 15 lb pulley and post up a dyno video of the rods leaving your stock block on the first pull:D

Yeah that's what I was getting at. Just because you make the engine breath a little better and the boost goes down, doesn't make it safe.

Hell you can run 30lbs of boost safely on the stock block if you run a tiny ass throttle body and choke the engine down. Boost is just a measure of the restrictions, not total air flow.

Could not of said it better myself.

Except I did notice somebody mention earlier that they saw boost numbers go down with headers. Thats funny because we put a set of SLP LT's on my buddies 04 Mach w/ Vortec SQ and saw boost increase by 1 pound. Headers were the only change, and it went from 13-14. Any insight?

Hard to say what caused it. Anything that makes the engine flow better should theoretically make the boost go down if all else is the same but different things can effect the actual boost numbers, like outside tempature.

lots of good things said throughout this thread! although even 10 psi can be too much too handle. I was running 10 psi from my vortech blower and i spun a rod bearing. didnt throw any rods or anything but it slowly got worse to where i had to rebuild the bottom end. what didnt help the cause was that i threw 100 shot into the mix after the knocking started. had fun at the drag strip!

so even with 10 psi... the motors were not built to run lots of boost... so if you drive it long enough and pound it like a real man than you will eventually cause bottom end failure... its inevitable!

Even with 13-14 psi I dont think ill be at 400 whp.

Everyone says the boost doesnt matter, its the amount of power the bottom end can handle and the tune.

Why would I be any more at risk than a Pi guy running 10 psi at 400 whp
and me running npi heads and cams with 14 psi at 400 whp?
