Homemade adjustable strut rods

It looks like the kit from cobraautomotive does not use any reinforcement for the rails. Is that right? Anyone got pics of an installation using this method (bolt going through the rails)?

the 4 washers in the kit are supposed to be the reinforcement. they go on the outside of the strut box. i usually see them welded on but i'm not sure if cobra automotive recommends they be welded or not
