Has anybody had their hood fly open in the interstate?? Mine just happened yesturday and man did I almost $hit on my pants The Cowl is not that bad of a shape but hopefully it can be salvegable; my windshield on the other got really bad. IRONIC:The guy whom I bought the hood from never has any hood pins and his car consistently did 11's in the quarter mile
MORAL: Put hood pins on your fiber glass hoods. (I'm problably the only dumbass that has not put any hood pins!)

Strap it down!

Do what I did. Got my cervini hood painted and installed and stressed the whole time after putting it on since I had to realign the latch. I finally went to Lowes and bought the heaviest shielded cable that I could find that would wrap around the hood latch and strung it through the frame below. I held the cable together with miniature U-bolts and a screwable lock link.

It's a pain in the butt to hook and unhook and still have it latch on the hood. But I can tell you that the peace of mind is worth it.

I don't like the look of the exterior hood latches so this is an alternative.

What kind of hood do you have? I think that would go with my bumper quite well.

I HATE hood pins as well. In fact, I absolutely refuse to put any on my car.

It happens with factory SN-95 hoods, not just aftermarket. I've had mine pop getting onto the freeway, & a friend has his pop during a FFW True Street cruise. The safety latches saved both of us from any damage, but it's scary as hell when it happens.

Well I've had the cowl induction for over a year and never had a concern with it opening when I'm driving it. The wind was pretty strong that day but I still dont know what happened. I checked the latch but still I have no clue.

Curt is right. I've had this happen also. The stock hood latch and catch really suck.

My cowl hood flew open on the interstate doing 70 when I had my '93 GT. The piece of crap hood latch broke. After that, I would never get an aftermarket hood without using hood pins. My latch did'nt break until over 1 year later after I got the hood, so don't think if it does'nt fly open right after you buy it that it will never happen.

I've had my Cobra R hood on since 99 and it latches tight and never pops up...i drop it from about 2 feet up to make sure it closes. I think alot of people who have this happen just don't close the hood hard enough.

Don't know how much this helps, but I screwed those little black rubber stoppers to where they're higher (like 2-3 turns not much to where the hood looks like it's not even) and it keeps it tighter on the latch and the hood can't move at all once it's latched.
I really don't want hoodpins so the guy with the inside latch secure thingy share more info & pics

Here for reference, not easy to see though:

After I shut my hood, I grab the front edge & lift the nose of the car with it to make sure it's latched. It's not user error, it's an issue that's happened to enough SN-95 owners to be a design flaw.
