How do you guys work under the hood on older cars?

Im having a fooking hard time getting off the bar that goes ontop of the engine that blocks you from lifting anything up. I mean its near impossbile loosen bolts that been sitting for damn near 10-11 years rusting up. I just scriped both of my 10mm sockets trying to remove stuff from under the hood. What do i need? An air tool or something because removing rusted old bolts is killing all my tool extensions =( Do i n eed a set of $100 sockets? Would it be better just to get an air tool?

Hey bro... no disrespect intended but how are those bolts rusted from 10 to 11 years if you have a '97?

Did you try removing the altenator to slip the manifold forward so you don't have to remove the STB?

It's alot easier to work if you have it out of the way. The more access you have the better. As far as running without it you can...but it's nothing to put back on.
