replace my oil pump?

Just wondering, the shop I take my car to said that they'd have to lift the engine to do this, and I'm wondering if that's more than need be...don't want to get overcharged when i don't need to be

What's involved with the whole process? Any help would be appreciated...thanks in advance

so lifting it is as simple as taking out the engine mounts and lifting it a slight amount?

Is there any other things I can dig into while we're under the car? Just curious, since I wouldn't mind adding a few peices here and there

i would def. pull the engine, it is possible without pulling it, as i had to do mine that way. But you will have to raise the engine around a foot in the car. You won't be able to pull the oil pan off without raising it a LOT, so i raised it til i got enough room between the oil pan and the bottom of the block etc. to get in there and work, you can take the sump loose from the pump, undo the bolt that holds it in the middle and snake it out, then undo the two bolts that hold the pump to the block, pull oil pump and pump drive shaft out, clean and start the reverse process. I wish you good luck and no snags if you do it yourself :nice:

hey Aaron - there is no way you could pull this off by yourself, not even if you had a week to do it. Just remember the smog pump pulley. Get a hold of me and we can do it on a sunday if I get the keys to the shop and you get the parts and the beer!
