How hard is it to change your syncros?

My car wont stay in 2nd on downshift, and grinds when i shift to 2nd, and 3rd sometimes, otherwise i dont think anything is Broken, Has anyone just changed the syncros, and how hard is it? I guess that kit in summit/jegs for like $250 includes the blocker rings, those are syncros right? anyone that could help would be great , thanks

oh, and has anyone had a tranny rebuilt at a shop? how much do you think they would charge to fix something like this?

Rebuilds around here are very expensive. Tranny work is specialty work. My friend had second gear rebuilt (new synchros) and a new clutch put in and the cost was a shade over $1500. IMO, you are better off grabbing a new tranny and bolting it in.

Transmisson work needs to be left to someone that knows what they are doing. Half-assed work will give you a half-assed transmission.

If you buy all the parts and pull the trans out of the car and take it to the shop, they only have to charge you for labor. You are looking at probably 3-4 hours of labor.
