How much more hp?

Debating on whether or not I'm going to keep the mustang and buy a 2nd toy or sell the mustang and put it towards a new car...

Just wondering right now how much hp can I make without having to upgrade my injectors and fuel pump.

The current mods are BBK headers, upr x pipe, pypes violator catback, vortech v2 sq supercharger, afm powerpipe. With a tune do you think I will be able to make around 320-330rwhp? The engine is completely stock heads/intake/cam/tb and all...

Before the powerpipe/xpipe the car made 290rwhp on the dyno.

I'm almost positive if I up the boost with a smaller pulley, it will require bigger injectors/fuel pump which is more money I don't want to throw into the car.
 
While end result is it's your car, I'd advise getting it at least tuned.

Starving your engine of the proper fuel necessary, especially under higher rpms and higher boost is asking a lot more from your stock motor than what it was intended, maybe more than it can afford.

Having the bigger pump and fuel injectors is insuring that you're able to supply it with the proper fuel it needs as it cranks through the higher rpms. Sure, you can pulley it and make even more boost, but if you're running lean under boost, you'll likely hear a ticking noise called detonation, and if you hear that tick too many times, you'll likely hear those ticks and a loud boom. That loud boom will also come with a rather large rebuild/repair bill which is several times more than what that fuel pump, injectors, and tuning would have cost in the first place.
 
The car is still running on the stock injectors I do believe.. the vortech kit doesn't come with injectors that I know of. It came with msd ignition parts and a t-rex inline fuel pump.

And for tuning it comes with the FMU.
 
Personally, I think the T-rex is a great part, but might be a band-aid for where you want your car to ultimately go. Its job is to pressurize the fuel lines at an elevated state to keep your fuel ratio where you want it to be, but you'll cross a bridge where the fuel pump is now the bottleneck as it is supplying as much as it can, and that might not be enough under heavy load. Getting your car tuned is a great way to find out where your car is, how safely it's running, and where your real problems lie, whether it's not enough fuel being injected, or being drawn from the tank itself. While upgrading the fuel injectors and pump is always a good thing, they won't do much if your car isn't properly calibrated. I believe that the first thing after a supercharger is a tune, and the chips from the kits are really just enough to get your car to the tuner. While yeah, you're fine, I don't trust mail order tunes because every car is different, regardless of mods.
 
if you got it straight from Vortech, the kit comes with 24# injectors which are not stock. take a quick check of the color on the top of the injectors and it will verify the size. until you confirm the injector size i wouldn't feel comfortable giving you a number.

on my 24#s and FMU with a t-rex inline and 255lph pump i had no problem running 390rwhp and 360rwtq.

FMU's are horrible get rid if it get it tuned.

Stock fuel injectors #19's are orange, #24's are light blue. What color are yours?
 
Well look at it like this. Stock you are making 215 horse power. At 10 PSI, you are adding 71 percent more air, so 71 percent more fuel, so roughly 71 percent more horsepower. That is about 360 fwhp, or about 310 RHWP assuming 15 percent loss.

I wouldn't use 19 pound injectors to safely support 360 fwhp.

Honestly if you want to run 10 pounds of boost I would use 24s and the FMU, or get 30s straight up.

In a nutshell ...
They keep saying to upgrade your combo ... to be safe ;)

More importantly ... Safe under ALL driving conditions :D

Less fuel pressure and more controlled spark is better for 8#

It is even more so as you move up to 10#

Thats the thing about boost ... a lot think it is nothing but a main unit
no matter if it is blower or turbo

Then again ... those who make the entry level kits .............
Thats how they market them

Most with blowers have the following ...
1) large intank pump and often an inline pump
2) large injectors working at or near OEM pressure
3) aftermarket ignition to control spark blowout at high rpm
4) a custom tune to make all those parts work toghther nicely

The fmu, close gap on plugs, and spark retard doo dads .........

Simply put ... they be a MECHANICAL way to make the blower work

While those gadgets do work ........

Most will tell you that method offers less ... way less control for your tune

another way that is nice is to get a Wideband A/F gauge.

You can get them pretty cheap now a days, and can watch when you do a WOT run if your going lean!

I love mine.....Its useful even if you dont have a tuner/datalogger to make sure your not going lean for anyreason, say a malfunction or whatever during normal driving.
 
No, sorry I didn't desribe what I needed help with in the last post. I was talking about the post right above that last one.

I already ordered the bigger injectors and am setting up a tune with logan motorsports.

I'm just trying to figure out if that kit I posted is all I need to go 10 lbs of boost or not. It says its for 76-93 mustangs. Or should I just buy a 3.??" pulley and the right belt?



EDIT: After hours of searching through many pages in google and rewording my phrases I found all the answers I need. The 3.33" pulley is the one I want, not the 3.25" as that makes 13-14 psi on my car.

Also, I don't know why I didn't ask this before. If I upgrade the boost/injectors, do I also need a bigger MAF?

The stock MAF is good up to around 300 RWHP. If I were in your position I would most definitely get a new MAF. You could also run the MAF extender if you wanted to do it that way, but thats more of a work around then a true solution. I don't have any first hand experience with extenders so I don't want to say more then that.

Yo uare finding out like I did that it takes $$ to play...and do it right. That's why for example when I sold my 306 to adam I knew it was going to run well for him. I always had it tuned and backed up with the right parts. Even if I had to wait, I made sure it was done safe before I got into it. There are exponential reasons for doing it right like you are and checking things out first.

Now, start SAVING yourself money and buy from the guys on here instead of buying brand new parts! :) AND always get more than you need! I have bought injectors freaking 3 times now from upgrading!
