how much pwr can stock intake and heads make

Guys, he's deleted the power steering, deleted the air conditioning, and added an electric waterpump. He also has "rebuilt 302" listed. If he's replaced the pistons (and I'm not sure if that was part of the rebuild) but you can bet the compression was bumped around a full point (since EVERY aftermarket flat top will do that). I'm not saying he's got 300hp (because I don't think he does), but I think you're all underestimating how much all those accessories really kill our motors. He'll have the crank pulley and if he didn't go directly to a low mount alt., he'll have a free spinning idler on the w/p.

i have a rebuilt 302, with almost everything he stated, (except electric wp, efan), ac and smog removed (no gains) and a lot more, and i bet i'm only at MAYBE 230-240 to the wheels. I think he'd be lucky to put 225 to the ground. theres no way taking off 2 power drawing accesories is going to add 75hp.

Even a stock intake ported is very restrictive.

200-210cfm is not "very" restrictive in and of itself, but I agree about how it would perform on a stroker - a good cam specifier can really help that with the correct cam if it's really something you want to do. Street racers (for money) have been known to do some very different things.

I don't think much of a gain would be realized stroking a stock heads/intake combo. Seems to me that would just shift the powerband down considerably.

If you run 1.94 1.60 valves in gt40s that have had the piss ported out of them you could run a 331cid. That would take care of the head problam. I have a solution for the intake as well. I have been debateing doing it for a year now. I want to graph a explorer and stock upper together. That way when you pop the hood people think nothing of it. The way I would be cutting it I could port and mirrior polish the whole inside of it. Just to gain that little extra. The lower is proven to flow plenty when ported correctly. I may regret typing this and letting the cat out of the bag but it would work. Oh yeah and before it gets started ,yes I am a veteran welder and fab guy. And yes I can do it.

That's probably just as much work as porting a M2/M3 or ALCAN stock lower - they can be ported to flow 220-230cfm (ALCAN) to 240-250cfm (M2/M3) and pass a close inspection that the Cobra lower could not. At any rate, the upper quickly becomes the limiter at about 200cfm.

the 5.0 is weaksauce by today's standard. buy some AFRs and acid etch them so they look like junk stockers! and fill the CNC machining in with JB weld! Oh yeah, you can do a little hidden NOS too. Then make all the cash back from local street racers and THEN go back to stock!

Or do a 351W. You'd be surprised how many peorple (ford lovers too) can't tell the diff between a 351W or a 302. The deck is just an inch higher, right? he he
