How to get MORE power?

My bad man :) ...I wasn't trying to sound like a smart azz...I really was trying to say that it was good that you got 232 to the wheels of a stock 04 GT.

Are you sure it was stock BTW?...Again, not calling you out, but taking into account the appox drivetrain lose of +/-15% and what everybody else usually gets on a stock 5 speed...It should of been something like 215 to 225 depending on heat/humidity (real BAD during my pulls), the dyno itself, all cars being different etc...I've never heard of someone getting 232 to the wheels right off the bat, but good job and I hope you reach your goals.

With the auto loss of +20%, I was content with 232...Appoximate gain of +/-30hp with the mods considering what my shop usually dynos stock autos at...They told me they could have gotten me a better sheet with cooler conditions and timing for higher octane, but oh well...Glad to hear some people throwing some decent stock power down

naa its cool, yeah the dyno shop said i had more power than they thought i should/would have. i'll have to find the dyno sheet and find some one with a scanner so i can post it up for you guys. i reall really want to dyno her now to see how much of a HP gain she has gotten with all my bolt on's.

honestly i thought my numbers were crap until i started seeing some other peoples numbers on here. then i didnt feel to bad.

but also as the engine gets more miles, wont it lose power over time? like an engine with say 5-10k vs. a motor with 90k. wouldnt the 10k motor put out more power? or is that a myth?

so from what i am hearing, i wont hit the 300hp mark unless i free up a few more trpped ponies AND mess with the heads and or cams? hmm....

would it be worth it to have my stock heads "ported and polished" ??? about what would that cost and about how much HP would i see as a result? would i need to have another tune done after a P&P ?

Plasma booster is a waste of money, but I definitely agree on windage tray + oil pan and electric water pump. Another thing you might wanna do is run a water/methanol injection kit - that will net anywhere between 15-20 RWHP I would guesstimate - you can check it out at www.snowperformance.com - they make one for N/A cars.

not to sound stupid, but how does the snow booster work? i read there website. where does the water/menthol mixture come in at? where does it inject? does it add to the stock coolent system? im sorry, this is prob a newb question.... :(

They have a FAQ section on the site that addresses most of your concerns.

Also, I still believe that 300rwhp can be had on the stock h/c/i. Many will protest that idea but, not too many have really tried. They tend to give up after the typical bolt on's and figure there's nothing left besides the heads or cams.

Take me for instance, sure, many could argue that my car will run out of steam eventually and even with adding more stuff, the stock h/c/i will end up restricting me to such a degree that I won't hit 300. While that may be the case, hardly anyone has really exhausted -all- the alternative possiblities, besides touching the heads, cams, intake, compression or displacement, there are other means to -free- up power. You'll need to look into less conventional and typical modifications in order to do so. At the same time, keeping the stock h/c/i will help keep the car driving and responding like a stock car should. Stock being a relative term here, I'm sure some people with worked heads and cams could attest, the drivability changes some what. To each his own, either way. You could just cut your losses ($$) short and just get a blower and be well on your way to saving up for a new short block if that one grenades.

ok guys i found my dyno sheet. it says i had 233.2 RWHP and 270 TQ. those were the peaks. The car was 100% stock (removed the air silencer, does that still count as stock?)

i dont have a scanner so i am going to try and take pics of the sheet and go from there. it was winter time when the dyno was done, not sure if it makes a diff since it was prob pretty cool out.

hmmmm ok, i'll play devils advocate. For the price of heads and cams, you dont think people have looked at all the rest of the ways to free up power?

Mind you, there is alot of tech support over at MD thats drag racing oriented. I think they have looked at "all" other means of freeing up horsepower.

The funny thing about that is, a lot of people on Modular Depot do know about all the "alternative" means to get more hp while N/A. What I meant by that comment is, hardly anyone has actually done it. Most people dont want to sacrifice "luxuries" or feel it's too much for a daily driver. Or some just simply don't feel it's worth it. Which I have to agree, there are ways to free up power but, some of it comes at a high cost.

It's not a stupid question so don't worry about it :nice:

The water/methanol sprays into the intake piping, cooling the air mixture - thus creating more horsepower. They have a FAQ section but look how funny this is:

http://www.snowperformance.net/ - real website got hax0|23D

I can't offer much more in terms of adding HP but a couple of observations:

1. A guy on this forum named bdcardinal (works for the state of CA) says that any mid-pipe other than stock is illegal and for every stock cat removed, there is a $2500 fine if you get caught. So just be careful about that.....

2. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if you have an aftermarket plenum, then plenum spacers are useless. You either get one or the other, but not both. Aftermarket plenums provide the extra volume that you try to get by adding spacers. If things aren't fitting exactly right under the hood, that might be why.

3. If you do ever plan to get blown, don't put on the U/D pullies.

4. I thought the 04's already had PI heads. If so, it would be a waste to get them P&P.

I confess to NOT being an expert so.....OK gang, fire away......

BTW, send me your car pics ( [email protected] ) and I'll post 'em for you....either that or PM me and I can tell you how to do it.
